Over 200,000 players want their money back from Battlefield 2042 – eSportsNews eSports Valorant

The bad news for 2042 does not stop. A petition therefore thinks that the game has mocked and lied to customers. Therefore, they should get their money back. Over 200,000 players have already signed this petition – also thanks to the support of a well-known insider. MyMMO tells you more.

Battlefield 2042 is in a disastrous state that satisfies neither players nor investors. Seemingly endless bugs, disconnects and unloved new features – the game is so broken and unpopular that even cheat providers have backed down.

Now a petition is currently going steep, demanding a refund for Battlefield 2042 on all platforms. More than 200,000 players have already signed it – and the numbers are rising rapidly. What’s behind it, and how realistic the chances of success are, we’ll tell you here.

from 16.02.2022: The 200,000 signature mark has been cracked.

Update from 10.02.2022: In the meantime, the petition has already collected well over 100,000 signatures.

Update from 09.02.2022: When the article was initially published (on the morning of 08 February), there were just over 18,000 signatures in the petition. Now the limit of 50,000 signatures has been exceeded, and the numbers continue to rise.

50,000 votes was cited in the petition as the threshold at which “one of the best class action attorneys in the entire country would be willing to [ist], to take our case against EA.” We will report if anything develops in this direction.

“EA’s release of Battlefield 2042 was a mockery of all customers”.

What does the petition say?

The petition, titled “Allow refunds for Battlefield 2042 on all platforms” by Satoshi Nakamoto, is directed at Sony, Steam, Microsoft, developer DICE, and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

It demands that gamers on all platforms get a full refund for Battlefield 2042 – no matter when the game was purchased or how long it was played.

What are the reasons given?

The reason, it says, is that EA “failed to deliver on many of its launch promises, and Battlefield 2042 came to market unplayable.” For example, the petition says that “Battlefield 2042 today still has bugs that alter the gameplay experience to the point that it is considered an unfinished version by many community members.”

The petition says: EA has engaged in “false advertising” and thus lied to players. In doing so, Battlefield 2042 is said to have “caused millions of dollars in harm to consumers and angered thousands of customers worldwide.”

What are players hoping for?

The petition hopes for more than permission to refund the money in full. Even more, it sees itself as a sign against corporate greed:

The community should not put up with this abuse and chicanery from billion-dollar companies that make unfinished games and false advertising.

In fact, Battlefield 2042 is “so poorly made that even Steam, a highly respected provider of PC , is giving its customers a full refund.” This gesture by Steam should not remain an exception, but a rule:

If you sign this petition, you’ll be one step closer to a refund for Battlefield 2042. Let’s say this petition gets 50,000 signatures or more. In that case, one of the best class action lawyers in the entire country is ready to take our case against EA.
Signing this petition is tantamount to saying, “I wish I had received a refund for this game.”

Petition gets lots of attention thanks to well-known insider

Why is the petition going steep?

Tom Henderson is one of the best-known insiders around Battlefield 2042. He was usually the first to have the most important information about the game before and after its release. He enjoys a lot of trust in the community – also because he is a vocal critic of Battlefield 2042 and the development team.

Can the petition succeed?

The whole thing is reminiscent of the debacle surrounding Cyberpunk 2077, when the game was taken off the PS Store and players got their money back.

What do you guys think about this? Do you think the petition is right? And do you think it could be successful? Do you hope that you can get your money back? Or do you think all the excitement is an exaggeration? Let us know in the comments.
