Ukrainian Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev (24) is considered the best player in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in the world. He has now offered Valve to make the first-person shooter better “for everyone”: Not only for professionals like him, but also for casual players. All he asks for is a few million US dollars and the number of players would increase. CS:GO is already the biggest game on Steam.
Who is s1mple?
- The 24-year-old Ukrainian is considered by many to be the best player in CS:GO in the world: in 2018 and 2021 he was voted the best player by the site HLTV. In 2019 and 2020 he came in 2nd place.
- s1mple has been playing for Natus Vincere for 6 years, a successful team consisting of Russians and Ukrainians. He is the AWPler there. s1mple has now earned $1.65 million in prize money in 136 tournaments, just under 95% of the prize money as a member of NaVi.
- In addition to his e-sports prowess, he also streams on Twitch from time to time, having trouble not getting banned from the service for using harsh language and having a term in his vocabulary that he uses to refer to friends, for which Twitch has banned him several times. He can’t understand these bans at all, saying it’s all meant in a friendly way – Twitch just doesn’t understand him.
One of the best CS:GO players in the world is overplayed, delightfully confused on Twitch
This is his announcement now: On August 9, s1mple wrote (via twitter):
Hey CS:GO, just give me a few million and I’ll make your game better, not only for professionals, but also for people who rarely log in, and want to get pleasure from the game. I’m not kidding, at least your numbers will increase.
s1mple
He also criticized the devs for not even being able to fix the brightness bug in CS:GO.
CS:GO is the biggest game on Steam, but rarely receives updates
What is so special about his statement? CS:GO is not just any game, it has been the biggest game on Steam ever for many years.
Player numbers have long ranged between 500,000 and 600,000 players online on average. This makes the game even bigger than DOTA 2, the other long-running game on Steam.
Since PUBG lost popularity some time ago, CS:GO has ruled Steam’s charts, even though the game was released back in August 2012.
How could it make the game better? That’s what s1mple won’t tell you. The info probably won’t come until the dollars start rolling into his account.
But despite CS:GO being such a hit, the game is constantly criticized for being changed relatively infrequently.
For example, it is currently being criticized that the pool of maps has remained unchanged for a long time. Especially the map “Mirage” is criticized, because it is the only one in the official map pool that hasn’t received a rework yet. Some professionals are therefore calling for the map to be replaced.
However, s1mple is on the side of the devs here and says the map should stay in the game. People who demand its exclusion have no idea about Counter-Strike. Because this is the best map to outplay opponents with superior play.
Players complain about bugs in CS:GO that have been annoying for a long time
s1mple apparently has other plans to improve CS:GO. In the comments, especially numerous bugs in sound or hit registration are listed, which allegedly plague CS:GO for years.
It’s certainly an interesting experiment to see what would happen if a connoisseur like s1mple was put in charge of CS:GO.
A few months ago, s1mple lost one of his key contributors to Natus Vincere:
23-year-old becomes a millionaire with CS:GO and falls in love – Now he says: “I lost my whole life because of her”
