What is Apex Legends? Apex Legends came out completely unexpectedly on February 4, 2019, and revolutionized the currently booming Battle Royale genre with a series of fresh ideas that virtually every other game in the genre has since firmly adopted.

At its quintessence, Apex Legends is still a very fast-paced battle royale game in which you participate in a sort of futuristic game show in which you shoot each other over the top. The team that is left at the end wins. In order to always have enough players, the playing field regularly gets smaller.

Who is writing here? Jürgen Horn is an Apex player from the beginning and has played in all – Season s so far. Therefore, he knows his way around the game, but always found that getting started in Apex was not particularly successful. But with the upcoming features of – Season 12, that should all improve.

Why hasn’t it been so easy to get into the game so far? However, Apex Legends has a very brisk pace and even the gunplay, which is excellent in itself, relies on you being familiar with the tens of different weapons.

As a beginner, however, you’ll be at a severe disadvantage in combat with experienced players, and you’ll have to “die through” umpteen times before you really know how to use your heroes’ weapons and skills properly. Many a newcomer will have had their fun spoiled by then and uninstalled Apex Legends.

But – Season 12 brings several reasons to give newcomers a promising start. Among them, a new mode and a drastic break in the meta.

What is this mode? For the start of – Season 12, there is a new game mode called Control. This is basically the Domination mode known from CoD and Co. You have to conquer and hold up to three strategic points on the map. This earns you points, and the first player to reach a certain limit wins.

Meanwhile, you get infinite respawns, can choose your heroes each time, and weapons are set in a starting loadout right at the start of the game.

This makes the mode an excellent way to get to grips with the gameplay and gunplay, as well as the different characters. Especially the respawns and the fixed loadouts leave a lot of room for your own experiences and a lot of trial and error.

Also cool for newcomers: In the first weeks after the start of – Season 12, Apex Legends is giving away three heroes.

What’s the deal with the new meta? Those who eventually stray into Battle Royale or Arena mode will meet experienced players there, but they won’t be superior in every aspect at the start of – Season 12. That’s because the developers have made some changes to the established meta gameplay with the new legend “Mad Maggie” and a few buffs and nerfs.

For example, Maggie can counter a previously particularly effective tactic, and one of the best weapons is now a lot rarer to find in the game. This means that even the pros will have to get back into the game and their advantage won’t be quite as great.

When does – Season 12 start? Apex Legends will be much more beginner-friendly with – Season 12, but when will it finally start? You won’t have to wait too long, because you can start downloading the big – Season 12 update today, February 8, probably at 7 pm.

The start in Apex Legends is worth it, by the way, because Apex Legends will remain the best Battle Royale in 2022.
