Blizzard has finally announced the “Deluxe” packs for WoW: Wrath of the Lich King Classic. They are not called “Deluxe”, but “Northrend Upgrade”, come in two variants and offer mounts, pet and character boosts as well as all kinds of other goodies.
Just yesterday we had speculated about this, then last night followed the official announcement on the WoW website: WoW: Wrath of the Lich King will get a Deluxe Pack just in time for the start of the pre-patch phase, similar to TBC Classic, only that the Deluxe Pack is now called “Northrend Upgrade” Pack.
What’s in the Northrend upgrade packs?
Following the weekly maintenance on the realms during the week of August 30, anyone who wants to start their Northrend adventure early on September 27 can purchase the Northrend Heroic Upgrade. This will allow you to instantly level up any character on a Wrath of the Lich King Classic realm to level 70. (Only once per World of Warcraft account. Not usable with Death Knights.) The upgraded character gets:
- the skill ‘Experienced Riding
- a people-specific epic ground mount
- a race-specific rare flying mount
- Weapon skills up to level 70
- Access to flight routes in Azeroth and Outland.
- a set of unusual (green) equipment for level 70
- Up to four Draenic leather pouches (with 14 slots each)
- some gold for the start of your journey
Also includes the Northrend Heroic Upgrade the penguin pet Pebbles and the Fish Speaker’s Lucky Lure, a toy that lets you summon your own Tuskarr fishing partner. The package will cost a whopping 49.99 euros in the store.

It goes even more “epic” and expensive
Adventurers looking to further enhance their Wrath of the Lich King Classic gaming experience can purchase the optional Northrend Epic Upgrade, for $79.99. It includes the character upgrade to level 70 (with the restrictions mentioned above) and all of the items from the Northrend Heroic upgrade, plus:
- the Kalu’ak Whalebone Glider, a flight mount for your Classic characters that is adapted to the style of the original expansion and can only be used in Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
- the Coastal Glider of Tuskarr, a visually adapted variant of the flying mount for modern World of Warcraft (buy now )(including Shadowlands and Dragonflight).
- 30 days of play for World of Warcraft with access to WoW Classic Era realms, Wrath of the Lich King Classic, and Modern play.
