Even though Shadowlands, on the whole, hasn’t exactly generated rave reviews, there are a few aspects that heroes will have to say a painful goodbye to.

One of them is the Night Fae Soulform, which won’t work in the new Dragonflight expansion. However, you don’t have to do without all the unlocked characters – a new toy will give them back to you.

What’s the problem with the Nachtfae? Shadowlands’ pacts all had various benefits and bonuses, but none of them allowed you to collect as many cosmetic customizations as the Nachtfae. This is mainly due to the “Soul Shape”, the signature ability of the Nachtfae, where characters transform into an animal shape.

There were numerous different soul gestalts to collect – whether from dungeons, PvP, raids, or even fishing. Shapes made up a large part of the identity of Nachtfae characters.

However, Soul Shapes will no longer be usable in Dragonflight. This is because all Shadowlands abilities will then be restricted to Shadowlands content and can only be used there. At least Blizzard wants to say goodbye to the “borrowed power” and establish a more complex, thought-out talent system instead.

However, former Night Fae veterans do not have to completely do without the unlocked animal forms of the Soul Shape.

What’s coming with Dragonflight? With Dragonflight, there is a new quest in the Forest of Arden. Night Fae followers can speak with Lady Muunn in the Heart of the Forest and complete a short quest. The quest “Shapes from Beyond the Veil” grants the toy “Seed of Renewed Souls”.

The toy allows you to take on your currently chosen soul shape for 10 minutes – with a cooldown of only 5 minutes. So, if you want, you can permanently walk around in the soul form outside of battles in the future.

What are the disadvantages? Since the Seed of Renewed Souls is a toy, the Night Fae’s Soul Shape will lose its gameplay utility. For example, the shape will no longer grant a bonus to movement speed, and the teleport spell “Flicker” cannot be used with the toy. So it’s just a cosmetic effect to be able to spend some time in the Soul Shape in the future.
