New on #AmazonPrime: The answer to #Netflix’s ” Arcane ” – here’s bloody fantasy action galore! – Series #News

With the fantasy animation series “ has brought a real firecracker to the start. Amazon’s answer follows on its heels, because as of today, the first episodes of “” are available in the Prime subscription.

The cartoon or animation style of “Arcane” and “The Legend of Vox Machina” may differ a good deal, but ultimately the animated formats of Netflix and Video blow a similar horn. Not only do they both offer great fantasy entertainment, which can sometimes be quite bloody. The originals are also decisive.

While “Arcane” is set in the universe of the successful computer game “”, the series “The Legend of Vox Machina” is based on the successful “Dungeons & Dragons” campaign of the role-playing website Critial Role. Through crowdfunding on Kickstarter, 11 million US dollars were raised here in the end, which ensured that the animated series is financed.

Amazon secured the streaming rights. Starting January 28, 2022, three episodes of the first – Season will appear weekly on Prime Video and a second – Season has already been ordered.

The plot centers on a motley group of adventurers and mercenaries, consisting of the warrior Grog (voice in the original: Travis Willingham), the half-elf druidess Keyleth (Marisha Ray), the gunslinger Percival de Rolo (Taliesin Jaffe), the gnome healer Pike Trickfoot (Ashley Johnson), the gnome bard Scanlan Shorthalt (Sam Riegel), and the half-elf twins Vax’ildan (Liam O’Brien) and Vex’ahlia (Laura Bailey).

Actually getting paid in gold is much more important to them than protecting the kingdom of Exandria, but when their hometown of Emon is attacked by a monster, they must fight for justice. Beyond the city walls, they embark on a unique adventure, encountering not only undead giants on their journey, but also a sinister necromancer and a powerful curse, all of which have something to do with the attack on Emon.

Far less action-packed, but all the more heartfelt, is the romance “P.S. I Love You”. Here, Gerard Butler, whom we have seen in recent years mainly in grim genre thrillers like “Angel Has Fallen” or “Copshop”, proves that he also has a pretty soft side. So nothing stands in the way of a romantic movie night!

And that’s the point: Even if the apartment in New York turns out to be a bit too cramped and their plans for the future are quite different, Holly (Hilary Swank) and Gerry (Gerard Butler) are still united by the most important thing: their mutual love. Holly’s despair is all the deeper when her husband suddenly dies. But he has taken precautions so that he can still contact Holly after his death.

On her birthday, a grieving widow receives a taped message from her husband urging her to finally go celebrate. In regular letters from now on, Gerry sets Holly new tasks to help her find her way back to life. When bartender Daniel (Harry Connick Jr.) takes a serious interest in Holly, the young woman has a crisis of conscience…
