What kind of find is this? The Pokéminers, a group of dataminers, periodically search the game code of Pokémon GO. They then make their finds publicly available to other players.

During their current search, the Pokéminers have once again come across a new Pokémon, which is causing quite a stir in the community. We explain why.

This new Pokémon has been found

As can be seen from the current reddit post by user martycochrane, Pokéminers have discovered a new Mega evolution in addition to a sticker of the ultra beast Masskito, which celebrates its release at GO Fest in Seattle. Accordingly, the first data about Mega Simsala has been deposited in the game.

While discoveries of Pokémon, such as the new legendary Galar Pokémon, usually lead to considerable anticipation among trainers on social networks, the Psycho Pokémon Mega Simsala, on the other hand, is causing quite a bit of discussion.

Trainers’ opinions on the find differ

Desire for another mega: If you look at the comments on Twitter and reddit about the new find of the Pokéminers, you will see that the opinions are partly far apart. The reason for this is a previous find from the beginning of July 2022.

At this one, Pokéminers have come across Mega Scherox in addition to the costumed Pokémon that could be found for the anniversary event. Some would like to see the Beetle and Steel Pokémon in the game first, so they are now hoping for a release soon.

Alternatively, however, they would also be happy to see other Megas, such as Mega Mewtu. But even there, the trainers are not necessarily in agreement. So you can read the following in the comments on reddit:

• krispyboiz: “Hmm cute. I think Scherox makes more sense for the next mega since we haven’t had a bug mega since Bibor 2 years ago and Stahlos is a bit older too.
  But Simsala might just be around for whenever in the future. That doesn’t necessarily mean soon. Personally, I’d like to see another fighting mega like Meditalis, preferably after Scherox.”

• Jifjafjoef: “Bruh, Meditalis also has a mega. How many battle megas do we have to go through before we get to Lucario? Would Meditalis be the last?”

• dylan2451: “The July 1 asset update (which included Party Hat Glumanda and Cake Pikachu) also had Mega Scherox, so I still think that one might come first.”

• Teban: “An unpopular opinion that probably won’t come true, but if I were a Niantic planner, I’d be giving out the “big” megas (Mewtwo X/Y, Lucario, Metagross, Knakrack, etc.) at regular intervals with a bunch of fillers in between, rather than saving them all until the end. 3-5 years without a single exciting Mega is a quick way to kill the hype for the feature.”

• duel_wielding_rouge: “I was expecting this year’s GO Fest or Hyperbonus to give us one of the Mega Mewtu.”

However, not all trainers would be sad to see Mega-Simsala enter the game first. For example, user GZBZM notes on reddit that it has the fourth highest attack of all Pokémon, including unreleased specimens like Mega Mewtu.

This is also confirmed by the latest figures from gamepress. With a strong attack and a decent moveset, Mega-Simsala could thus rank among the top 10 psycho attackers in Pokémon GO after its release.

More positive feedback: But other trainers are also looking forward to a release of Mega Simsala and can hardly wait. This is especially shown in the comments on Twitter clear:

• EsterNova8: “Can’t wait to get that ‘spoonAholic’… Oh wait, Mega-Scherox has been added too. So it’ll be a few months, as usual.”

When is Mega Simsala coming? Since the dates are not official information, but findings from the game’s source code, Niantic can still change these dates at any time or even decide against a release.

So whether and when it will finally happen that Mega Simsala will enter the game and whether other Megas will be unlocked beforehand remains to be seen for the moment. If there is any official information from Niantic, you will find it here on MeinMMO.
