Update: Blizzard has decided when the mitigations for the Tier 5 raids in WoW: Burning Crusade Classic are coming! Original: Blizzard developers have announced mitigations for some Tier 5 bosses from WoW: Burning Crusade Classic. However, it is unclear, even with the Classic team, when the nerfs will go online and in what form.
Update from November 19, 2021: Finally! Blizzard developers have decided when to implement mitigations for Tier 5 raids in WoW: Burning Crusade Classic. In the official WoW forum, community manager Kaivax explains:
“We will be implementing the previously mentioned adjustments for Morogrim Tidewalker, Lady Vashj, and Kael’thas as part of maintenance during the week of December 14 (Editor’s note: In our case, this means December 15, 2021).“
So you’ve got a few IDs ahead of you to defeat the final bosses from the Serpent Shrine and the Fortress of Storms in the unmerged state. To find out what changes await you, check out the original announcement.
Original news from November 09: In WoW (buy now ): Burning Crusade Classic, as we all know, it was part of the developers’ red design thread to tone down the group challenges of Outland (plus Karazhan and the Caverns of Time) after a while to make them accessible to as many players as possible. We can certainly expect something similar in WoW: Burning Crusade Classic. The Tier 4 bosses have even been toned down, even though they were very doable with today’s knowledge.
Raid nerfs incoming
Many raid groups have had a much harder time with the current Tier 5 challenges. While most communities have been able to defeat Kael’thas and Lady Vashj (9,813), there are still nearly 7,000 guilds that are at 8 or 9 out of 10 bosses (via Warcraftlogs).
In the official forum, Blizzard developers had unsurprisingly announced a few hours ago that the first mitigations for the Serpent Shrine and the Fortress of Storms would be coming soon. Specifically, the following nerfs were announced for the upcoming ID change:
- Morogrim Tidewalker: Murlocs health points will be lowered to post nerf levels.
- Lady Vashj: Taken over players can now be controlled.
- Kael’thas: The battle now has the post nerf state.
Good, especially the latter point is not very concrete. Especially since the developers withdrew the implementation date a short time later. They want to look at the whole thing again and discuss the exact implementation. There should be an update in the next few days.
