Day one of the Rumble Stage at MSI 2022 will most certainly see a long Winning Streak come to an end: G2 (20 Wins in a row) meets T1 (26 Wins in a row).
This year is a special one at MSI, with three teams coming through the group stage undefeated: T1, G2 Esports and Royal Never Give Up. In the entire history of the tournament (since 2015), only two teams have managed that so far. SK Telecom T1 in 2015 and RNG in 2021.
In 2021, Riot has adjusted the format for the MSI: The smaller regions no longer have to play their way through a “play-in stage” but are put in a group with the major regions from the start. This is probably one of the reasons for the flawless scores of the best teams in the world in the group stage. The major regions (LCS, LEC, LPL and LCK) didn't give up a single game to the minor ones at MSI, the record is 20-0.
Now comes the Rumble Stage. There will be six teams: one from all four major regions and two teams from the minor regions.
- Saigon Buffalo (VCS)
- PSG Talon (PCS)
- G2 Esports (LEC)
- Evil Geniuses (LCS)
- T1 (LCK)
- Royal Never Give Up (LPL)
Six matches are already waiting for us on the first day of the Rumble Stage. The first match pits two previously unstoppable forces against each other, G2 Esports and T1. Both teams are on an incredible winning streak that will now come to an end for one team.
