Streamers earn additional money through the Twitch currency “Bits” and through donations. Fans can donate certain amounts to their favorite content creators or give them the Twitch currency by purchasing bits with real money.

Subscriptions and bits, however, have to be shared with Twitch, and the revenue does not go entirely to the streamer – which is how the streaming platform finances itself. Only donations pass completely into the hands of the content creator and are therefore particularly sought after.
