Modern Warfare wants to be more than “collection of modes

The upcoming : Modern Warfare 2019 wants to offer a continuous and existing experience – and across through all its modes. You want to be more than just a collection of different game formats, was said at E3 2019.

On May 30, publisher Activision together with developer Infinity Ward officially unveiled the new Call of Duty for 2019 – . The new series offshoot wants to do a lot of things differently than its predecessors – including how the individual modes interact and the experience there.

Here’s how things stand with the modes so far: Currently, , for example, is basically a collection of different modes. These are all mostly independent of each other and only united under the umbrella of Black Ops 4.

Among other things, there is the traditional multiplayer there, but it has hardly anything to do with the battle royale mode Blackout. The Zombies experience, on the other hand, has hardly any points of contact with the two MP formats of Black Ops 4. It’s a similar story with the different modes in pretty much all previous Call of Duty titles.

Here’s what’s supposed to change about the modes with Modern Warfare 2019: During E3 2019, some of Treyarch’s developers joined YouTube’s E3 show to chat a bit about the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

In doing so, they emphasized that they want to change exactly this fragmented experience with the new Modern Warfare 2019. They want to offer players more than just a collection of different modes – a single complete experience.

Thus, they want to offer players an end-to-end and overarching experience that runs equally through all existing modes – whether multiplayer, co-op or the single-player campaign. Fans should no longer play individual modes – they should play Modern Warfare. As one unit.

These are the changes on the example of weapons and equipment: Everything you do in Modern Warfare then takes place in the same consistent world and is subject to the same rules. All weapons and the entire equipment range, for example, should play the same everywhere and function the same everywhere.

If you gain experience and progress with a in one mode, you should be able to apply that experience in all other modes. Also, progress and unlocks, for example, will apply everywhere – regardless of where you unlocked what.

For example, if a player isn’t the best at multiplayer, he can unlock his weapon and corresponding attachments in the campaign, but then still use them in multiplayer. The weapon will be at the same level there as it is in single player and all other modes.
