Modern Warfare II: Popular features return

Anyone who has ever played a Call of Duty knows that, broadly speaking, there are two series within Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Black Ops. The Modern Warfare series is developed by Infinity Ward and started with Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007. The original series then consisted of Modern Warfare 2, which was released in 2009, and Modern Warfare 3, which saw the light of day in 2011. In 2019, the series was then virtually relaunched with Modern Warfare 2019. This year, the successor Modern Warfare II is now coming onto the market. Yes, it can all be quite confusing, but that’s just the way the CoD franchise is.

Modern Warfare II hasn’t been officially announced yet, and we don’t have any information on the setting or specific gameplay elements. What we do have, however, are leaks. And many of the leakers on Twitter have been right with their predictions several times in the past. So what was leaked this time?

Old MW2 features return in MWII

Due to Modern Warfare 2019, we had previously bet that Modern Warfare II would be another CoD this year with tactical sprinting, the hated doors and the new minimap. According to the latest leaks from The Ghost Of Hope on Twitter, Infinity Ward seems to be bringing back some old features that we didn’t expect. Among the old features known from Modern Warfare 2 are the Last Stand Perk, the classic mini map and the Dolphin Dives.

Here are the tweets to go with it:

Last Stand Perk

The Last Stand Perk in Modern Warfare 2 allowed players who were shot down to still shoot at enemies with a pistol while on the ground. You couldn’t be revived like in , but you could continue firing at enemies. That this perk was pretty hated probably doesn’t need to be mentioned. You practically had to shoot all the corpses again, just to make sure that a player you just shot down would shoot you in the back after all.

The classic mini map

The classic mini map, in turn, is very good news. On this mini map, all players shooting without silencers were directly marked in red. No idea why that was changed in later titles. In any case, in newer CoDs you still had to equip an extra perk if you wanted such players marked on the mini map.

Dolphin Diving

Dolphin Diving is simply another type of move in Call of Duty. Anyone who has played any of the current CoDs is probably familiar with Slide Cancels, and Dolphin Dives are a similar skill. Dolphin Dives allow players to make large pike jumps that can even be used to jump over bullets or missiles.

Those were all the old features that are supposed to be back in the new Call of Duty. Are you excited about the return of the classic mini map or Last Stand?
