What many suspected has now been officially confirmed: The new Call of Duty game will be called Modern Warfare 2! Rumors and whispers have finally come to an end since yesterday, April 28. A short teaser of the new CoD title was unveiled via Call of Duty’s official Twitter account, which also showed the game’s logo: Modern Warfare 2 is coming!
Leaks were correct
The countless leaks and hints about the new CoD title were correct and so we can look forward to the hopefully quick release of Modern Warfare 2. Reliable CoD leakers like Tom Henderson, RalphsValve or TheGhostOfHope had already published first hints about Modern Warfare 2 via their Twitter accounts months ago and were spot on.
As expected, it’s looking like this year’s Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare II (2022), will be revealed in the summer.
Hearing rumblings that the title could release in October due to Vanguard’s poor sales performance, with a “big” Warzone update coming soon after.
Modern Warfare 2 is supposed to usher in nothing less than a new era in Call of Duty. Infinity Ward is talking big here, and after the Vanguard debacle, the community’s expectations for the new CoD title are already high. Apart from that, there wasn’t much information. What we know for sure so far is that Infinity Ward will take over the development of Modern Warfare 2, that it will be based on the story of Modern Warfare (2019) and that there will be a story campaign in addition to the multiplayer.
Release with Warzone 2?
There is no official statement yet as to whether Warzone 2 will be released at the same time as Modern Warfare 2. However, it should only be a matter of time before the second part of the popular Battle Royale shooter is confirmed by the developers. Currently, a full reveal of Modern Warfare 2 is expected on May 30. Here, we might also see the first images of the game and a possible confirmation of Warzone 2.
It was so realistic, it’s insane
