Massive problems spoiled my CoD weekend

: #ModernWarfare and WarZone are currently plagued by heavy lags, server issues, and ghostly empty lobbies. This caused my nice weekend of to go down the drain. Infitiy Ward now gives me and the community hope.

That’s why I was looking forward to the weekend: The long weekend around May 1st was supposed to be my CoD weekend. Not only should there finally be enough time for gaming with buddies – no, Call of Duty wanted to sweeten my time properly.

On the program were several cool things, the metaphorical sundae was so to speak garnished with heaps of cherries:

  • Due to double experience points for weapons, rank and Battle Pass from – Season 3, the strongest attachments for my favorite weapons were already installed in theory and the cool skins were virtually unlocked.
  • As a playlist, there was the possibility to play only the maps Shipment and Shoot House – in other words: level up weapons even faster in the action chaos.
  • The annoying new “camper-friendly” contract was replaced by the well-known and appreciated bounty system, which makes the lame midgame in Warzone more action-packed
  • In multiplayer, a new variant of “Upset” was active, – CoD’s answer for those who don’t like dull tactical waiting. Like me!
Ready to jump into fun and unlocks

So in theory, the weekend was ideal for catching up on experience, improving your own loadout, as well as having a lot of fun in WarZone and the multiplayer. But unfortunately it turned out quite differently…

Lags, freezes and bad connection quality in Warzone

This is what my weekend in Warzone looked like: With three companions in the luggage we started as a squad. What should stop us – apart from the 146 competitors?

Already at the jump from the BR-typical airplane doubts spread in me. I quickly shouted through my headset: “Hey, is it like this with you too?” The polyphonic response confirmed the impression: “Can’t open my parachute” or “Where am I all of a sudden?” are the embellished exclamations. You can imagine the somewhat harsher language in reality.

Unfortunately, this was not an isolated incident. Throughout the weekend, matches were saturated with more frustration than fun. And the problems were not limited to the start of the round.

These problems led to frustration: In encounters with enemies, it seemed that it was not my skill but a coin toss that determined the outcome. Sometimes I just fell over, sometimes the enemy did – neither of us deserved the kill.

Who is speaking? Philipp Hansen has been a “Call of Duty” player since the original Modern Warfare from 2007 and has spent hundreds of hours in the multiplayer modes of the series.
He feels at home in the entire shooter genre and plays both sci-fi games like Destiny or Halo, but also more realistic representatives like Battlefield or other BRs like Apex Legends.

Broken matchmaking in multiplayer of CoD: MW

This is how the multiplayer frustrated me: Annoyed by the problems in Warzone, I put all my hopes on the classic multiplayer. At least there are two cool modes waiting for me, so I can at least unlock a few essays and ranks in the Battle Pass.

Actually, I didn’t want to spoil the fun of the game, but most of the time it just didn’t come to fun. Because as soon as the game search was started, I lined up in a queue as long as a mile.

That’s why I didn’t get the XP boost.: Often the round then started after an eternal wait with only a few fellow players. If the player search went as fast as usual, I was put several times into a match that was basically already over and only a few kills were possible.

The action you’re looking for only occurs in crowded lobbies
Few kills also mean less exp – how was I supposed to benefit from the experience boost that way? To my regret, another evil joined in: after a few rounds there was even, apparently randomly, no experience at all.

Contrary to my intention, after a few tries I was told: “Until a patch comes, I’m staying away from Call of Duty: MW!”

Infinity Ward wants to calm down community with fix

Am I alone with the problems? No! The problems I mentioned are symptomatic for many CoD players and therefore cause frustration for many. Since the updates of April 28 and 30, it just does not run smoothly.

Also here on MeinMMO you give this frustration a hearing:

Warzone is currently rather lagzone, in gulag matches I don’t shoot at all in the killcam, in the game itself enemies mostly eat whole magazines, then turn, and you are in the dirt within 42ms (smaller than my ping after warzone lobby search).

Here’s what Infinity Ward has to say about it: Recently, developer Infinity Ward also commented on the ongoing problems with Warzone and the multiplayer mode.

This revolves around a fix for problems with the Battle Pass, which is shown as inactive for many a soldier and thus also not levelable.

When the solutions for the current problems will finally arrive is currently unknown. But we will keep you up to date on MeinMMO.

I hope that I will soon be able to play Warzone and CoD MW again without any problems. Because if everything runs smoothly, the game makes me a lot of fun and I still have some catching up to do. How is CoD running for you – are you plagued by the same problems or are you lucky so far?
