Overpass is a bomb scenario map from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive , set in the German capital of Berlin. Created by Valve , the map appeared as part of the Winter Offensive update . It was subsequently added to Operation Bravo for Global Offensive , but went into the normal map canon after the operation ended. Overpass is the first Valve-made map released exclusively for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive .
Construction
The map is divided into two different but almost equally large areas: There is the canal system below the bridge and a park on a higher level, in the middle of which there is a café. On Overpass, the two bomb sites are close together. While bomb site A is on the bridge and is located directly at the spawn point of the anti-terrorist unit, bomb site B is located below the bridge in the canal area. Accordingly, the counter-terrorist unit can reach both points quickly, but the terrorists have to travel a longer distance to get from their spawn point inside the canal to the opposite bridge. The longer of the paths leads across the park to the bridge.
development
Global Offensive
The map was developed by Valve in 2013 for the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Christmas Update and was first revealed on December 13, 2013. However, it was not based on any previously created community map, nor was it included in any other Counter-Strike title. Thus, it was the first map of the game that Valve developed exclusively for this. Finally, Overpass was released with its Winter Offensive update on December 18, 2013, along with Cobblestone .
Between December 18, 2013 and January 20, 2014, it was also part of Operation Bravo, to which it was added later. At the time, it could only be played by Operation Bravo Pass holders . After some time, however, it also became part of the normal card canon.
On April 4, 2014, a major overhaul of the map was released, as Overpass was the only map in the game that had been completely recreated for Global Offensive until then. In addition to the bomb locations, the stairwells of the map were also changed.
