Construction
Mirage is a classic bomb disposal map that features two different bomb locations. While the anti-terrorist unit spawns in the lower-left corner of the map, relatively close to the two bomb sites, the terrorists’ spawn is a little further away, in the upper-right corner of the map. The map features many corridors and passageways. Both factions can reach the center of the map at about the same speed. However, there is a nest of snipers on the side of the counter-terrorist unit. Bomb Site A is in the bottom center and Bomb Site B is in the top left corner of the map. The bomb sites are both on smaller squares that can be reached through multiple locations. Overall, the possible interaction of the player with the map is also relatively high,
development
Counter-Strike
Along with Dust 2 , Mirage was one of the most popular community maps from classic Counter-Strike in the early 2000s . The original map used textures from the classic Italy map and therefore had a Mediterranean theme. Despite its high popularity, the map was only added to the official map canon with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive .
Global Offensive
The GO version of the map was released in June 2013. In contrast to the classic version of Mirage, the map in CS:GO takes place in an oriental environment that uses the textures of Dust and Dust 2. However, the structure of the map was adopted almost 1:1 by Valve, but some gameplay changes were made to make the game more balanced.
trivia
- There are two TV screens on the Global Offensive version of the map, each showing a test pattern. If you shoot them, the test images logically disappear.
- Global Offensive also has French terms on some of the map’s shields.
