Nuketown Zombies is a zombie map from Call of Duty: Black Ops II and the 13th zombie map overall. It is based on Nuketown from Call of Duty: Black Ops. The events on the map take place after the end of a multiplayer game, because that’s when a nuke always goes off. The houses are devastated and outside the map you can still see the mushroom cloud. Furthermore, the map plays pretty much at the same time as Moon. At the beginning the zombies have yellow eyes, but when Richtofen takes control, it changes to blue. Also, at first you can hear Samantha’s voice when collecting power-ups, but later Richtofen announces the bonuses. As the player completes the rounds, he gradually gets to see how Richtofen behaved on the moon during his plan to destroy Earth. Originally, the map was only available to players who pre-ordered. However, since December 2012, players with the – Season Pass have been able to download the map for free. Since March 13, 2013, Nuketown Zombies has also been available on Xbox Live’s Marketplace for 400 Microsoftpoints. On April 12, Playstation followed suit and you had to pay 5 Euros for the DLC.
Description
After the massive explosion on Nuketown, players spawn in the middle of the map as agents of the CIA or members of the CDC. Debris and rocks block some paths, making it naturally more difficult to get around the map. Perks and the Pack-a-Punch machine randomly spawn on the map after hearing a nuclear warning sound.
As in previous zombie maps, the player can buy the Olympia in front of the yellow bus or the M14 at the moving truck. The doors into the two houses are locked and you have to spend 750 points to open them. A pile of rubble blocks the entrance to the truck and you have to put down a hefty 3000 points to open it. In return, you can find the AK-74u, claymores, the bowie knife, taser striker rings and semtex grenades hidden behind some crates inside. Under the canopy of the garage of the yellow house, the mysterious box can spawn. The player can also crawl through a hole in the garage of the green house, which leads to an empty room where zombies can come from the ceiling.
In the yellow house, players can buy a Remington 870 MCS above the fireplace. The debris blocking the stairs up and the way out requires 1000 points. Upstairs, between the two windows, you can buy a Colt M16A1. There are gaps in the porch through which you can get to the backyard, but zombies like to take advantage of that. The stairs from the yard to the second floor are once again blocked by debris and you have to pay 1250 points. In the backyard, the mysterious crate can spawn in front of the garden bed. If you pay 3000 points at a door, you get a random power-up.
In the green house, the B23R hangs next to the TV. As in the yellow house, there is a closed door and a pile of dirt, each leading outside and upstairs. In the upstairs bedroom you can buy the MP5. Just like in the other house, there are step traps in the porch through which you can fall down, which zombies love to do. The stairs back upstairs are blocked by debris and cost 1250 points. The backyard of the green house even has two spawn points for the mystery box, next to the ruins of the doghouse and next to the nuclear shelter.
The counter on the welcome sign, which indicates how many people live in Nuketown, shows the number of zombies players have killed. When a player kills a zombie at 00, the counter turns back to 99 and a white hand ticks on it, after which it starts all over again.
Nuketown Zombies does not contain any windows that could be repaired with boards, so it is unnecessary to use the hammer. Therefore, it is missing on this map.
Easter Eggs
- While playing, you can hear numerous phrases from Richtofen while he is on Moon, indicating that Moon and Nuketown Zombies are happening at the same time.
- In the nuclear shelter, you can hear Marlton Johnson, who later became a playable character on Green Run.
- While playing, you can occasionally hear the horn of the bus from Green Run.
- The alarm from Area 51, which you can hear when you start Moon, for example, also sounds from time to time.
- When you find and activate three teddy bears or shoot the heads off all the mannequins, secret songs play, once the loading screen from Moon and once an 8-bit version of Coming Home.

- The clock in the middle of the map shows how much time is left until the power-up in the partially destroyed shack in the backyard of the yellow house changes. You have to pay 3000 points to get the power-up.
- When the air raid siren comes on, a random perk machine or the machine comes on for punching.
- The air raid siren is more useful than you think because if you stand too close or even under the impact point, you can die, the same goes for the zombies by the way.
- When the game ends, you see the map being hit by a missile that came from the moon.
- Nuketown Zombies is the fourth map where perk machines change randomly, the first ones were Shi No Numa, Shangri-La and Moon.
- Nuketown Zombies is the first map since Kino der Toten that doesn’t have an important and detailed Easter Egg.
- Unlike in multiplayer, you can’t climb up the plant grates next to the windows of the houses.
- The hammer is not available because there are no barriers on the windows on this map.

- The mailboxes with the names Woods and Mason are still there, but they have been knocked to the ground.
- On the left side of the loading screen, you can see a section of Moon’s comic loading screen. This becomes even more obvious when you look at the real loading screen. You can clearly see the black lines that separated the ads for weapons and drinks in Moon.
- This is the first downloadable content in the history of Call of Duty, which contains just one map.
- The jeep that was still present in the normal Nuketown was replaced with an even older version, but it was crushed quite brutally by a rock.

- Nuketown Zombies is now free to download from the Xbox Live Store.
Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
