Hangar 18 is a multiplayer map from that was released with the Annihilation DLC. Originally, the map was supposed to appear in the main game and was called Area 51. It is a medium-sized map set in a secret section of the Area 51 military base. There are many allusions, including the corpse of an alien and a flying apple. There are several high-altitude locations, for example, an incineration room, towers and a Blackbird SR-71.

  • This is the fifth multiplayer map from : Black Ops that is set in the United States, because it is located in Area 51. The first four are Nuketown, Convoy, Stadium and Drive-In.
  • The jet on the map is of the Lockheed A-12 model.
  • On the map there is an apple floating in an electromagnetic field. When you shoot at it, the bullets deflect and hit the surrounding walls.
  • The player can see three alien corpses that have been covered with sheets. They have hands with four fingers and blue feet with four toes. There is a sign hanging from them that says “Property of the Government.”
  • In the room with the aliens, an autopsy table was thrown into a wall and there are massive traces of blood, indicating that an alien escaped.
  • There are numerous keyboards on the map that can be destroyed, plus you can press the “Use” button to make sounds. After they are destroyed, they renew themselves.
  • All the license plates on the black vans say “exempt”, and the license plates on the white vans say “U.S. Gov”.
  • A similar looking hangar forms the starter area on the Moon zombie map.
  • This is the first map in Black Ops where an airplane can be found on the map, moreover, it is only the third one ever, the two predecessors being called Airfield and Terminal.
  • When you shoot at an alien, it has the same effect as when bullets hit wood, blood doesn’t flow either.
  • One of Megadeth’s most famous songs is called Hangar 18, which is about a secret area in Area 51 called Hangar 18 that houses super advanced computers and secret alien corpses.
