Carnival

an abandoned fairground where the Brazilian militia fights Task Force 141.

Description

The map is set in an abandoned amusement park and the surrounding areas. Included are a fun house, roller coaster, Ferris wheel and many of the usual theme park stalls and rides.

The map is largely designed for ranged combat. There are five vantage points from which to look out over the park, such as the first-floor window of the fun house or the rocket-shaped tower near flag C in Reign. The big house and the area where Flag B is located are usually the most visited, but the section between Flags A and C is also fiercely contested.

The castle with the bumper cars is best suited for close combat because there is a forecourt where you can hide behind many things until you look each other in the eye. Since the castle also has a balcony, you again have a vantage point overlooking the southwestern part of the map, plus you can jump onto a platform above the bumper cars to surprise reckless enemies from above with showers of fire.

Passing the castle, you reach the carousel and the stalls, which once again offer excellent opportunities for close combat. The passage near the beer tent is ideal for hiding, as you can intercept unwary enemies who are hanging around the fun house.

The area where the future is to be simulated is best suited for fights at medium range. When you enter, you already have a great view of the surrounding area. In the middle there is a building in the shape of a rocket that provides access to a higher place. From there you have a direct view of the carousel and the stalls, which allows snipers to catch a shot or two. Nearby is a restaurant in the shape of a lunar lander and next to it are toilets that can be used as a resting place if you need to pilot your Predator missile or AC-130. The overturned structure called the “Crushinator” provides a nice view of the inner area, so you can take out enemies without much trouble with a sniper rifle or assault rifle.

The area behind the rollercoaster covers the entire southwest, north and northeast of the map and is best suited for mid-range fights. Players just coming off the rollercoaster can get up into the fun house by climbing the destroyed rails in the north and jumping through the gaps, which allows them to attack enemies just coming out of Future Land. In the north-east there is another opening that leads behind the roller coaster. There, players can walk up the tracks and jump over the broken cars to reach a vantage point that really overlooks the entire map. This place is well known and equally popular with fire-happy snipers.

Last but not least, you have the fun house next to the entrance to the roller coaster, where there are really close quarters battles. The many obstacles inside make it hard to land a well-aimed shot, so you have to get as close as possible.

Thanks to the battles, which are always alternating in all locations, it’s best to grab an assault rifle or light machine gun. Shotguns are useful when attacking a place that has been taken over by the enemies. Carnival is a popular map for domination.

Info

  • This is the only map where there is moving traffic.
  • The cars in the traffic actually hover and do not move at all, and they always appear in the same pattern.
  • There is a large traffic sign on the highway outside the map that says “Interstate 935 north to Interstate 95”.
  • Although the map is set in Brazil, all the signs in the shops are written in English.
  • The Ferris wheel was taken from a mission in of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It also moves a bit.
  • This is the only map from the Resurgance package where the Task Force and the Militia fight each other.
  • There is an oversized teddy bear in the castle moat behind some crates.
  • The name of the amusement park is “AdventureLand”, an allusion to a film with the same name.
  • Just outside the map in the southeast is a freak show advertising several crazy people, for example the lizard man, the bearded woman and the man with the longest feet in the world. Funnily enough, a picture of an Infinity Ward employee was placed under each advertisement.
  • Every clown no longer has a left arm, not even the oversized clown in the car park. This is a reference to Imran Zakhaev from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, who also no longer had a left arm.
  • The mechanical fortune teller in the fun house bears a strong resemblance to Captain Price.
  • If you shoot the fortune teller, the electronics break and it looks like he is dying.
  • Some shops in the sales area have MasterCard and Visa stickers, but of course the names have been changed.
  • If you go to the fortune teller in the fun house and destroy it while standing directly in front of it, you take damage, just like with the mirrors on Favela.
  • On the ground floor of the fun house there is a calendar on the floor with a motif of a woman in a swimming costume. You can also find the same one in Vacant.
  • This map has one thing in common with Trailer Park. When you shoot a barrel, it starts to leak beer.
  • In the fun house there are several slot machines where you can play the game “Modern Warfare”, a more than obvious allusion.

Call of Duty

The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at     War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
