The #streamer Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp is a crazy guy. He shows the MOBA League of Legends in his streams and has set himself a crazy challenge. He wanted to reach the rank of “Challenger” on all five positions in the game. It took him a little over two years and over 6,000 matches to achieve this.
That was his goal:
- Tyler1 was a strong botlaner for years. There he was best known as “One Trick Pony” with Draven.
- At the end of 2019, he had set a goal of reaching the Challenger rank at this ADC position just before the end of the – Season . Only 300 players per region can even get that. In a marathon stream that temporarily made him No. 1 on Twitch, he fell just short of that goal. But his ambition was awakened.
- In early 2020, he played his way up to Challenger on his position Botlane and claimed afterwards that all Junglers in the game were “garbage”. He would also easily make it to the top of the rankings as a jungler.
- He then set himself the challenge of learning all the other four positions and playing up to Challenger on new accounts.
- He has now succeeded in doing so. In a livestream on February 19, he won his last game to become a Supporter Challenger. With this, Tyler1 has set an insane record.
Why is this so special? Most Challenger players focus on one or two positions in which they are particularly strong. From these positions it is easier for them to control and win matches.
That a player plays variably at all positions is rare, and even then that person plays those positions on one account. However, Tyler1 has played five different accounts from zero to Challenger, always choosing only one role per account.
Over 6,000 games in the rankings were needed for success
How long did it take Tyler1? The challenge started in February 2020, when Tyler1 suddenly focused on the Jungler position. For this, he even took a stream break of 6 weeks and lost about $56,000 in subscriptions, according to his own statement. In return, he focused completely on League of Legends, without the distraction of viewers.
In total, however, it took Tyler1 just under 3,000 games and over 6 months to reach the rank of Challenger as a jungler.
- The second thing the LoL streamer tried was Toplaner. There he needed 1,740 games and reached his goal in the summer of 2021. Most often he played the champs Cho’Gath, Urgoth, Irelia, Aatrox and Quinn.
- The third position was Midler and here there was much faster success. At the end of 2021 he reached the rank of Challenger after nearly 900 games.
- Since the start of – Season 12 in January Tyler1 was on the road as a supporter in the Ranked. After a ridiculous 450 games he reached the rank Challenger.
After more than two years and 6,000 matches in the Ranked – and that’s not counting the matches from his already known position as Botlaner – Tyler1 has mastered this crazy challenge.
Everyone has respect for the “little flamer
How does the success arrive? Tyler1 was and is mostly known for his tantrums. This already earned him a permanent ban in LoL, but it was lifted after 613 days. Since then he is active in the game again. With his streams, it is not quite clear whether the behavior is just a role he plays ironically, or whether he is really addicted to the tilt at that moment.
He also has to constantly take jabs because he is very muscular, but just 1.68 m tall.
However, everyone has respect for his performance in LoL. This is also shown by the comments in reddit:
- “5 years ago I only saw Tyler1 as a toxic one trick who could only play Draven. I don’t really follow him but this was an irrie challenge and he proved everyone wrong. Only really great players can become Challenger in all 5 roles.”
- “The man has balls of steel, I’ll give him that. The dedication he has shown to his goal alone is worthy of respect.”
- “His predictions regarding the opponent’s bachelor are really crazy. He so often correctly predicts every move the jungler will make. Insane.”
But not everything went smoothly for Tyler1 in the last weeks. Because just a few days ago he parted ways with his LoL team:
Twitch streamer swears: He didn’t get kicked off legendary LoL team because he’s a flaming lunatic
