The well known leaker Tom Henderson has announced that FIFA 23 will be released with crossplay for the first time in the franchise history.
The cat is out of the bag: FIFA 23 is coming! After the legal dispute between FIFA and EA it was speculated that FIFA 22 was the last classic FIFA, because from 01.01.2023 FIFA and EA go separate ways. Now the leaker Tom Henderson announced that FIFA 23 will be released in any case. And not only that: It will also have Crossplay as a feature for the first time! This is heavy news for all FIFA fans.
EA is taking the next step in the evolution of FIFA. There will simply be crossplay between PlayStation, Xbox and PC, totally rad. The community has been waiting decades for this. Hopefully the feature will work. Furthermore, Henderson also leaked other new features.
Leak: FIFA 23 has crossplay, two World Cups & more!
Henderson is simply already a legend in the gaming world. His leaks are almost always right, we trust no insider more than him. So when Henderson writes that there will be FIFA 23 and it will feature Crossplay, we believe him.
A few days ago, we already reported on the comments of EA CEO Andrew Wilson, who dubbed the collaboration between EA and FIFA as an impediment. EA would have had to pay about 860 million euros over four years for a new contract, just to use the name “FIFA” for their soccer simulation. EA turned that down and secured rights for a new name. But all this will be relevant for the next but one FIFA, because FIFA 23 is definitely called FIFA 23, and not “EA Sports FC 23”.
FIFA 23 has crossplay
Henderson found out that FIFA 23 will have crossplay. So you’ll be able to play with your friends across consoles. PC, Xbox and PlayStation will finally be united. To what extent there are differences between the different console generations, i.e. PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, is not known. However, we suspect that all consoles will have crossplay. Henderson writes:
One of the biggest additions to this year’s FIFA title, however, is that for the first time in the series’ history, cross-play will be possible, bringing FIFA players on the PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms together for all of the title’s game modes.
Also quite important in this quote is that cross-play will apply to all game modes. That is, you can play Ultimate Team, co-op, Pro Clubs, Volta, and friendlies via crossplay. We are totally hyped!
FIFA 23 will not be Free to Play
There have been rumors for some time that FIFA 23, much like competitor eFootball (formerly PES), will be Free to Play. Henderson could refute these rumors for the time being. To what extent this is good or bad is difficult to say. Because we all know EA’s system. If a game is Free to Play, you end up getting more money out of your pocket than you would have spent on a paid game. But we don’t have to worry about that for now, FIFA 23 won’t be Free to Play. But that’s not all by a long shot.
Henderson announced a World Cup mode for both the men’s and women’s World Cups. We’re familiar with World Cup modes from FIFA 14 and FIFA 18, where they were a big hit in Ultimate Team. Henderson continues:
In addition, FIFA 23 will include both the men’s and women’s World Cups, with EA expanding its licensing partnership to all major leagues to create a unified FIFA experience that brings men and women together.
EA plans to purchase additional licenses for leagues and associations. To what extent men and women will be brought together, we’ll have to wait and see. Is it possible to play with both men’s and women’s teams at the same time? In FIFA 22 Pro Clubs you can play with a woman as a pro for the first time. Also, the Hypermotion technology, which was newly introduced for FIFA 22, will be pushed further in development. However, only the next gen consoles will benefit from this.
Henderson mentions in his article, which can be read here again in the original, that EA didn’t react to his request concerning these leaks. Typical, this community management, isn’t it?
In any case we have mega desire for FIFA 23 and Crossplay. Hopefully it will work without further problems. EA has a lot to make up for after the Battlefield debacle.
FIFA 23 RELEASE – WHAT IS KNOWN SO FAR
FIFA 22 is still in full operation, but in the background the game makers of EA Sports are already working on the next part – FIFA 23 will be released in autumn 2022.
But under which name will the classic game be continued in autumn 2022? As things stand, it is not at all certain that the game will continue to bear the name of the world association FIFA. We have the most important information about FIFA 23 for you, why the game series will get a new name and on which consoles the next part of the soccer simulation will be available.
WHEN WILL FIFA 23 BE RELEASED?
We can’t give you an official launch date for the next part of the FIFA game series yet. EA hasn’t communicated much in this regard yet, so so far we can only assume that FIFA 23 will be released in the period between mid-September and early October 2022, just like its predecessors. In the past years, the latest launch date of a FIFA game was October 06.
