Virtus.pro
Virtus.Pro has been involved since the early days of Dota 2. The team was founded in 2003, but only actively participated in the first Dota 2 tournament in 2012. One can remember here the veterans like KuroKy who joined shortly after the beginning. Of course, the team had also experienced its difficult times and there were many changes in direction and in the squad. For a few years now, however, the team has found its way again and is now one of the fixtures in the Dota 2 universe. Even more so, the recent winning streak makes them unpopular opponents judging by the other teams’ comments.
For me, the team represents strength and willpower. Anyone who has been there since the beginning and has fought their way back from the bottom several times has the willpower to win this tournament. Virtus.pro won the DotA Summit at the end of 2017 and analysts also see great potential for the current year. The team’s greatest weakness is also a great strength. Every player can add their two cents when it comes to play styles and tactics. After a short training phase, what initially seemed to end in great chaos becomes a perfectly coordinated team that wants to win the TI8 Cup at any price. But enough of the warm words, here are the facts:
Biggest success so far: Winner DotA Summit 8, runner-up in Kiev Major 2017
Team Roster:
- Carry: RAMZES666
- Mid: No(o)ne
- Offlane: 9pasha
- Roamer/Support: RodjER
- Hard Support: Solo (Captain)
League of Legends explained – LoL for Dummies
The name of probably the most influential eSports title of the last few years – “League of Legends” – has been heard quickly; but what exactly it is all about is rather difficult to grasp, especially for the layman. Therefore, this complex game is broken down here to simple basic elements, understandable for everyone.
League of Legends or “LoL” is a video game published by Riot Games and belongs to the genre (game category) “MOBA”. MOBA is a sub-genre of strategy games and stands for “Multiplayer Online Battle Arena” – so it is an online team game that is played on a closed map that is always the same.
On this map, usually the so-called “Summoner’s Rift”, the teams compete in a five-against-five match with the goal of destroying the enemy base, the winner being the team that destroys the enemy’s main building, the “Nexus”. This usually takes between 25 and 35 minutes, but can also take an hour.
Each player controls one of over 140 available champions. These are selected before the start of each game and matched with the team. Each of these champions has its own skillset – i.e. abilities – and thus differs fundamentally from the others. Therefore, on the one hand it is important to perfect these champions as much as possible, but at the same time to know the skills of all champions in order to be able to compete effectively against them. This is also a long-term task, since new champions are added to the game all the time.
