League of Legends: Rogue takes LEC title

There is a fresh European champion in -. Rogue secured the LEC trophy for the first time at the 2022 Summer – Season finals on September 11. The team, consisting of Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu (Top), Kim “Malrang” Geun-seong (Jungle), Emil “Larssen” Larsson (Mid), Markos “Comp” Stamkopoulos (Bot), and Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus (Support), first defeated Fnatic 3-1 in the Lower Bracket Final and then took revenge for their Upper Bracket Final loss two weeks earlier with a 3-0 win over G2 Esports in the Grand Final.

Rogue and G2 in Worlds Group Stage

G2 Esports thus missed out on defending their title and now has to settle for second place overall after winning the group stage after all. The consolation: Together with champion Rogue, G2 has solved a direct seed into the group stage of the 2022 Worlds.

At the final in Malmö, Sweden, “Comp” in particular earned the laurel wreath of the triumphator: the Greek bot player from Rogue received the award as MVP (MEAST Valuable Player, i.e. most valuable player) in the Grand Final. He has already been awarded this title against MAD Lions and Fnatic.

The LEC is finished for 2022 and will return in 2023 with the Spring – Season . It is already certain that Misfits will no longer be there: the team sold its place in the league to Team Heretics from Spain. Rumor has it that this is not the only change in the competition’s lineup – Astralis may also want to drop out.
