Unlike items with a very clear function, like Goredrinker or Eclipse, Trinity Force runs on the principle: take whoever you want, everyone can use a bit. Basically, Trinity Force is an item for AD fighters on the plane or in the jungle. The extra movement speed of Trinity Force and the AD increase help you both when fighting your opponent and when chasing him when he runs away from you.
