League of Legends Guides- The late game

The most important gold in League is the 50g you get when you destroy the enemy Nexus. But getting to that point is sometimes not so easy. We will give you on how to finish the game successfully.

Of course, every LoL game is different, but most of the time you go through three phases. The early game is characterized by everyone bumming around on their lanes and farming. Once the first towers fall and the team starts roaming and running around together, the Mid Game begins. And at some point, when the first people are full-build and it doesn’t matter how big the gold difference is anymore, the Late Game starts. Here, planning and teamfight execution are the most important.

Welcome to the Late Game

Dragons

In the late game, the individual dragons are no longer particularly important. Instead, it’s more about the Soul. The first team to kill four Drakes gets a permanent buff depending on the last dragon you killed.

  • Cloud Soul: A lot of mobility in and out of team fights and therefore map control.
  • Infernal Soul: Damage… and a lot of it.
  • Mountain Soul: Strong shield – especially good against poke or burst champions.
  • Ocean Soul: Life and mana regeneration when you damage an enemy.

Often the Soul decides the game, but which one is how good for your team varies. The Infernal Soul is good for a team fight composition, but it’s insane for a poke team.

As soon as a team kills its fourth Dragon, the Elder Dragon spawns – and it’s something special. It not only gives you True Damage but also executes all enemies that have less than 20% life. The buff isn’t permanent and you lose it when you die, but if you lose a team fight with the buff, you’re probably just bad. The Soul decides the game, with Elder you close the bag.

Nashor backwards is Roshan… at least almost.

Baron

Since the beginning of time, LoL’s most famous objective is also what the late game is all about. To get Baron you need several champions (unless you play nasty champs), or even the whole team. If the enemies catch you at it, it gets hairy, especially because Baron reduces your resistances with a debuff. The best time to start Baron is when two or three enemies (preferably the jungler) are dead. If you have good vision control, you can also start the buff when there are many enemies on the other side of the map.

If you have slapped the Baron, you get the “Hand of the Baron” buff, which increases your AD and AP values and reduces your recall time from eight to four seconds. Additionally, the buff boosts all minions around you. Mages hate this trick! Just boosted Cannon Minions are good for taking down your opponent’s base because they have a longer range than turrets. Also, the Baron buff is only temporary and you actually have to be careful with it because it helps you less in teamfights than the Elder buff.

In League, all you have to do is get to First Base.

Towers and Inhibitors

We already talked about towers in another , but in the late game it’s less about the gold and more about the map control you get when you destroy turrets – especially in the mid lane. This makes it much easier to get into the enemy jungle and gank opponents. However, inhibitors are much more important.

Destroying an inhibitor gives you a big advantage and trading for it is almost always worth it – unless the opponents get Dragon Soul or Baron for it. If you have destroyed one of these structures, you will get a supervassal in every minionwave. He not only bludgeons everything himself, but also buffs the Minions around him. Only as long as at least one inhibitor is destroyed, you can attack the Nexus. By the way, you can tell how long the Inhib is still broken by a small ring around it.
