It’s Samira’s turn in the Champion Guide. In our League of Legends Champion Guide series, we will introduce you to the most important mechanics of all League of Legends Champions. We’ll show you gameplay, runes, items and generally everything there is to know about these champions. Samira was the nightmare of every SoloQueue for quite some time. But with this champion guide only your gameplay will be dreamlike.
Samira already spends a lot of guide time dashing around. If you’re not comfortable with that and want to slow your game down a bit, try using champions like Ashe or Jinx. They are also ADCs, but they can only run. Other ADCs like Kindred can also rock the gulf. And Mundo just got a rework.
Samira is a great champion. Making a guide for Samira is about like Alligatoah lining up for the family picture. (“I’ll never settle down, you’ll only see me in a blur in photos.”) I’ve often found myself killing opponents off-screen because I was dashing wildly in random directions. After that, death followed most of the time.
LoL Champion Guide: What can Samira do?
Samira is one of the few ADCs that hardly need Attack Speed. You probably already looked at the item selection above and thought: Wow, where should the Attack Speed come from? And you’re right: Samira doesn’t need Attack Speed in this guide. How wonderful! Let’s take a look at why!
What makes Samira so special?
Samira is an ADC that doesn’t rely on autoattacks. Silly right-click fiddling and childish kiting will not be found here! Samira plays her game with style. And both the Q and the Ultimate scale with crit. So you can definitely get the most out of the champion via simple crit items. Autoattacks should be more of the gap fillers.

In the laning phase, the main thing you need to keep in mind is that Samira – and all the guides in the world won’t help here – is only equipped with 500 Range. In other words, it almost doesn’t matter who you’re playing against, you’ll almost certainly get poked out of the lane. So how do you go about it?
Well, it’s usually “run or hit,” but with Samira, one almost doesn’t work without the other. With each stack of your passives, you build up Movement Speed, which you can use to fight back when the Caitlyn on the enemy team gets annoying again.
Engage Guide: Samira jumps in!
With Samira, the key to success is to gauge when you can Engage on the enemy and when you can’t. Stick to the following guide – I have prepared a checklist. You can jump in when:
- All your abilities are off-cooldown.
- You have landed a Q at least once before (i.e. you have already secured two stacks with Autoattack).
- You check beforehand if there are two other enemies waiting for you in the bushes.
With this checklist you are actually good to go. But this wouldn’t be a full Samira Guide if I didn’t tell you the combo par excellence: Q>Auto>Q>W>E>W and then the Ultimate. Very important for this combo is the W>E>W part. Samira throws her blade around once at the beginning and once at the end of the spell. You have to hit the enemy with both instances and dash through them in between, otherwise you won’t get any style points.
Samira Mechanics Guide to pick up the rest
Samira can cast her Q while dashing with her E, leaving a path of bombs behind her that will 100% hitten the opponent. Also, always keep in mind that you get a Dash reset when you kill an enemy. This pretty much always secures your way out.
A suuuper important point when it comes to the later game is your overview of the current style rating. What point are you at right now? When is your Ultimate ready? What about your cooldown? Also, tracking skills is generally one of the most essential skills if you want to climb in League of Legends. And because Samira’s Ultimate works kind of like Katarina’s in this guide too, any CC can cancel it. So think about what CC the opponent has beforehand and it’s best to wait until she’s out.
