In our League of Legends Champion Guide series, we take a look at all the champions of the Rift. We’ll show you gameplay, runes, items and generally everything there is to know about these champions. Today we’d rather put a disclaimer in front of it: It could get crazy. The gulf explodes, rockets rain down from the sky and one of them stands laughing in the flames: Jinx, the trigger-happy one.
We’ve already got a few champions behind us in our LoL Champion Guide series. Feel free to check those out, too. We’ve really limited ourselves to the most important stuff, so it’ll only take a few minutes:
- The One and Only Yone Champion Guide
- Ahri Champion Guide
- Aatrox Champion Guide
ADC is probably the hardest role of all in Summoners Rift. Mistakes are punished super hard and in the first 20 minutes of the game you usually have well… let’s say not the biggest impact. But in the later course of the game, it’s closing time for the opponents. There are hardly any better examples than today’s champion guide queen: Jinx. Let’s take a look at how you can best counteract the feed:
Jinx Playstyle
Keep moving!
Jinx is – I’ll say it again – an immobile ADC. The most important thing in every play is to stay safe! Enemy assassins/topliners/supports with damage just have to blow at you and all color disappears from your screen.
So stick to Attack Move – then you won’t run into the enemy team like a blind man because you clicked once. And always keep moving! To intersperse one or two steps between each Auto Attack seems unnecessary at first because then you can do fewer Auto Attacks with Jinx. But imagine what skillshots you can do with it.

Especially with the reset of the passives you sprint with Jinx with crazy speed over the map and get just as crazy attack speed. This is the moment when you are allowed to completely freak out. For example, if you’re clicking around wildly with the speed buff on the passives and switching between real movement and attack move over and over again, it becomes impossible for enemies to predict where you’re going to be next.
Playing for the Objectives
Jinx (sigh) is an immobile ADC. You mainly want to get through the laning phase! No one is forcing you to greed for the kills, in fact, in this Jinx Guide, we strongly discourage it. You are not the Engage, just a Follow-Up. But this only works if your teammates actually play along with you. Unfortunately, we know what SoloQ games are like most of the time… Still, don’t give up! LoL is played for the Objectives. And Jinx and Ziggs, the terror champions that is, are amazingly good at destroying them (GG, Rito).
Of all the abilities, Jinx Q in minigun form has one of the highest Single Target Damages in the game. Towers? No problem, they get shredded! Otherwise, though, try to use the greater range from the launcher. Think twice about the minigun auto attacks, the next one-shot is already waiting! Apart from that, the Super Mega Deathrocket is still the easiest steal in the game – Baron or Drake are executed faster than the main characters in Game of Thrones. Even though the glory days are over and Riot has capped the damage at 1000 in patch 11.10, you can still go for it with a clear conscience. And that’s saying something.
Gatekeeper Chompers
If you get into trouble with Jinx despite the items and runes we described here, it’s really your own fault, you can’t be more prepared. Still, there is a fine little mechanic that is ridiculously effective. An opponent gives you a nasty look? The chompers are the remedy! Place them under yourself and run or kite for your life. Without a Leap, your pursuers have to actually run past it, real old school. Every Dash will be stopped.
Chompers aren’t the only one of Jinx’s abilities that have a bit of utility. Aside from the laughable Damage later in the game, you’ll actually hit your Ultimate 100% of the time after the W. It also allows you to cancel Auto Attacks. Not bad!
So, in summary, one thing is most important in this Jinx Champion Guide: she can only run! No matter when enemies jump in your face, you have to kite! And for that you will be rewarded! With lots of utility and especially in mid and late-game team fights absurd damage via resets! Let’s get jinxed guys.
