League of Legends Guides- Champion Roadmap

We take a look at the champion roadmap for in 2022. Who is the next champion and how many champs will we even get in 2022?

In 2021 we got a total of 4 new champions. Each of them played a role in the champion lore of Lucian and Senna and Viego. The Sentinels played a big part in 2021 and the released champions played an important role in that.

So what’s in store for 2022? Two champs will be released right at the beginning of the year. According to , the first champs released in 2022 will be designed for Bot Lane. So we can expect an ADC and a Support. Let’s take a look at the 2022 Champion Roadmap then!

LoL Champion Roadmap: How many champions will be released in 2022?

According to the Champion Roadmap from September, we could get an extra champion in 2022. So if Riot plans to release 6 champions like they did in 2020 – one for each role and 2 champions for the middle lane – then we could be looking at a whopping 7 champion releases in 2022!

Why is Riot planning to release an additional champion in 2022? Zeri was supposed to be released before the end of 2021. However, according to the Champion Roadmap, it didn’t fit into Riot’s planned year-end event, so it was postponed until early 2022.

And lo and behold – with League of Legends Patch 12.02 we were able to welcome Zeri to the game.

Who is the next League of Legends Champion?

The next League of Legends champion we can welcome into the fold is the Jungler from the Void we’ve all been waiting for. Riot has been very hush-hush about this, but we can already make some guesses about this champion.

One thing is for sure, this champion will be a creature. We’re not talking about Yuumi or Lillia, but a really beastly champion who won’t wrap us around his finger with his cute looks.

This creature could be some kind of or warrior from the void, since we know that they work for a mysterious figure called “Empress”.

I see it. I see everything. The lavender sea, purple cities covering the land. My Empress rules over it all. This is how Runeterra should be, this is its true form.
Who is this “Empress” and what is the context of the Jungler from the Void to her? So many questions, but hopefully we’ll get a whole event on this soon. Knowing Riot, though, they leave us with more questions than answers.

What abilities will the Jungler from the Void have?

During the livestream for – Season 12, the Creature from the Void took possession of Ryan “Reav3” Mireles. The whole thing came across as a little funny, but was it perhaps already an indication of the champion’s abilities? What if he could take possession of other champions?

Reav3 also referred to the Jungler from the Void as a champion who “swarms in the gap,” which could also point to the champion’s kit. Will he have some sort of swarm attack as an ability, or perhaps creatures like Elise’s Spiders or the Voidlings of Malzahar?

To date, we can only speculate on his abilities, as there is nothing more than small breadcrumbs to go on.

When will the next champion be released?

An exact date is not yet known for the Jungler from the Void, but we assume a release in the summer, around June or July. In 2020, Lillia came into play in the summer and Akshan the year after around the same time. Therefore, we assume that Riot will keep this scheme.

Who were the first and second champions in 2022?

The first champion in 2022 was none other than Marksman Zeri. She’s already gotten some nerfs on her kit, however, she’s still pretty strong, especially in the pros. She’s fun to play, though.

If you want to learn a bit more about them, check out our Champion Guide video about them! You’ll master her in no time!

The second champion to enter the stage in 2022 was Renata Glasc, a steely Chem Baroness who rules the underground city of Zaun, and that’s exactly how you play her. She brought a completely new crowd control ability into play with Beserk.

Renata Glasc is a bit easier to learn than Zeri, but we have a guide for her as well so you can understand how she works from the ground up.

When does the Udyr rework go live?

In a recent Reddit post, Reav3 was asked if the Jungler from the Void will be released before or after the Udyr rework. Reav3 wrote in response that the Jungler will be the next champ for 2022, then comes an ADC, and finally it’s Udyr’s turn.

So if you’re Udyr main, you’ll have to wait a while before you can finally play the rework.

Who could that be?

A second ADC will be released in 2022

In the recently released – Season 12 video, Reav3 also stated that another ADC is coming later this year. More specifically, it will be another non-traditional ADC. It should probably come up with another unique mechanic. Who could this mysterious ADC be?

Will Faey be coming to League of Legends in 2022?

Last year, Riot released a short story about a young girl named Faey. This was just before the release of Lillia and Yone, so fans thought that one of those champions could be Faey. Faey has connections to Akali and is from Ionia.

It never came to pass, but fans continue to believe that Faey will be coming to the Summoner’s Rift. Through a leak, fans have found out that Faey will likely be the next champion after Vex. However, with the latest champion roadmap, those theories have also been destroyed. Sadge.

This begs the question: Will Faey ever be a champion in League of Legends, or will she forever remain just a character from a short story?
