Wolfiez: I’ve consistently placed very high in most tournaments across different game modes. One of the biggest achievements for me was participating in the World Cup. I’ve also secured victories in several Cash Cups and performed well in FNCS. As for my aspirations in the next few years, I aim to reach my prime performance level once again.

Coming back to the topic at hand, how do you feel about the upcoming UK’s first major Fortnite LAN tournament? Surely playing in front of a live audience will be a different ball game altogether. What’s your take on it? Do you feel that it will be a distraction or add to the overall hype of the event?

Wolfiez: LAN tournaments are definitely my strong suit. I’m quite adept at blocking out the crowd and focusing on playing, even in the presence of a large audience. If anything, playing in front of a live crowd tends to elevate my performance and bring out the best in me.

I understand that solo is a high-risk, high-reward format for any tournament, especially given that there will be eight opening rounds, with eliminations in the final four being worth double points. What’s your take on this unique setup? Do you feel that Duos would have been better suited?

Wolfiez: In my opinion, it doesn’t really matter whether it’s Solo or Duos. Duos have been extensively played, and we haven’t seen many major Solo tournaments recently. So, it’s refreshing to see Solo tournaments receiving attention once again. Personally, I’m excited to showcase my skills and see how I perform in this format.

Given the stiff competition from some of the best players in Europe, what’s going on in your mind right now? Walk us through the thought process that helps you concentrate on staying on top of things.

Wolfiez: The most crucial aspect is surviving the initial phase of the game, securing a favorable landing spot that allows for consistent gameplay. If you start the game at a disadvantage due to a poor landing, it disrupts your consistency and significantly reduces your chances of achieving a good placement.

If possible, share with us the strategy you implement during the early game versus the late game. Given how the addition of certain movement mechanics and the Reality Augment system has spruced up gameplay, will it affect your desired strategy’s outcome?

Wolfiez: Different phases of the game require distinct strategies. During the early game, mid-game, and late game, I stick to the game plan that has proven successful throughout my career. Occasionally, I may engage in one or two fights during the mid-game, but for the most part, I approach the end-game with my usual tactics and playstyle. While the new movement mechanics and Reality Augment system bring changes to the gameplay, they won’t drastically alter my desired strategy’s outcome.

As a professional player in Fortnite, given the competition at hand, what are your predictions about the tournament? Do you have anyone in mind who you would like to go head-to-head with during the course of a match? On that note, is there someone whom you would want to avoid at all costs, and if yes, why?

Wolfiez: I don’t really think in terms of wanting to avoid or go head-to-head with any particular player. Fortnite is a game, and the outcome of each match is determined by the gameplay itself. It’s about adapting to the situation and giving your best regardless of the opponents you face.

Moving on from the Red Bull Contested Fortnite LAN tournament, what’s your take on the newly added Ranked Mode? Do you feel it has enough gusto to propel Fortnite into the limelight and help professional players be taken more seriously? Given that the LAN tournament in Copenhagen, Denmark – FNCS Global Championship 2023, is due later this year, do you feel that the Ranked Mode will help shine a brighter light on things?

Wolfiez: The Ranked Mode is a cool addition to Fortnite, and it has the potential to attract more attention to the competitive scene. However, there are some issues that need to be addressed for it to be played in the best possible way. While the mode brings something different from the Arena mode, it doesn’t provide an enjoyable experience for me without the siphon mechanic. The absence of siphon undermines the overall experience.

As a professional player, what are your expectations from the Ranked Mode moving forward? Although it’s still in its infancy, what more can Epic Games do to improve the experience and integrate things more seamlessly?

Wolfiez: Epic Games faces a challenging task in finding the right balance between catering to competitive players and maintaining a space for casual players. They need to strike a middle ground that provides a competitive environment without alienating the casual player base. It’s a delicate decision, but finding that balance will be crucial for the long-term success of the Ranked Mode.

Moving on from the Ranked Mode and the competitive side of things, what are your general thoughts about Chapter 4 Season 2 thus far? Are you enjoying the storyline and newly added collaborative items, or do you feel that the current season was a letdown?

Wolfiez: Chapter 4 Season 2 has been a decent season overall. As an experienced player, I’ve come to expect frequent changes and updates from Epic Games, so it’s not necessarily a letdown. The evolving storyline and the introduction of collaborative items add some freshness to the gameplay experience.

Speaking of seasons, what’s your wishlist for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3? With leakers/data-miners predicting a full-scale tropical/jungle biome, are you excited to play the role of Ace Ventura?

Wolfiez: Personally, I don’t closely follow the storyline of Fortnite. However, I’m definitely looking forward to a new map with a tropical/jungle biome. It will bring something new to the game and add excitement to the gameplay.
