It has never been so easy to get strong teams

In the FUT mode of you should try to really strong teams. This year you get there unusually fast, finds MeinMMO author Max Handwerk – thanks to the transfer market! Only the jump to the “ultimate team”, there are still problems.

This is the situation in 22 right now: October 01 was the official launch date for FIFA 22, with Early Access it already started on September 22. One way or the other: If you calculate this once back, you come to the result that FIFA 22 for all players is now somewhere between “not-even-one-” to at most “just-over-one-month” old.

That’s not too much time actually, but somehow a lot has happened already. Explicitly the transfer market is meant: It is incredibly low. A lot of strong cards are available at extremely low prices, if you compare that with previous years.

Let’s take a quick look at a few examples:

  • Bundesliga player Robert Lewandowski cost 90,000 coins at this time last year, in FIFA 22 he’s just at 36,000 – and that’s despite a better card.
  • A Paul Pogba in the Premier cost over 200,000 coins – in FIFA 22 he costs just 68,000, also with better values.
  • Serie A’s Paulo Dybala was just over 40,000 coins at the time. In FIFA 22 he costs just 11,000.

Over all, at this point there are only 14 gold players that cost more than 100,000 coins in Ultimate Team at all. All the others that are over that limit are special cards like Heroes, Icons, or Event cards.

But even some of the new Heroes, like attacker Mario Gomez, are already below the 100,000 – even though Gomez in particular still cost just under 300,000 coins at release.

So now you can get many cards even with few coins. This makes the way to the “Ultimate Team” noticeably shorter – at least if you are not looking for the “ultimate” Ultimate Team.

Strong teams without problems – Then comes the gap

I decided to play a Serie A team in FIFA 22 at the start of the FUT – Season . The players from the Italian league are always a bit cheaper than the rest – accordingly I thought that it should be worthwhile to assemble a powerful squad here at the start of the – Season . But I didn’t expect how quickly the team would be largely “ready”.

FIFA 22 Serie A Team

The Serie A team was assembled unusually quickly

Just one month is over, and in Serie A I’m a little bit running out of players to add to the team – at least as long as I stay in the Italian league. I’m playing without using FIFA Points and I’ve only participated in one Weekend League this year – so it didn’t take too much time and effort.

Thanks to the low transfer market I was able to quickly buy players that I thought would take me much longer. But that’s not the only point that helped with tinkering.

  • I regularly checked for preview packs – and when one was worthwhile, I grabbed it and flogged the contents on the transfer market. One time it included Ederson, who at the time still fetched 50,000 coins. The preview packs didn’t used to exist – and with a bit of luck they are a good option to earn coins and improve the team.
  • With the new ladder system, you only need 3 wins a week (or 7 for the upgrade) to get reasonably decent rewards in Division Rivals once you get to a decent league (I’m in Division 5 right now).
  • Even with Weekend League qualification, there were rewards – and once that was done, it didn’t take many wins to get some packs on the weekend as well.
  • Thanks to the low transfer market, players were also quickly found to complete SBCs like for de Ligt with reasonable ease.

Combined with the transfer market, this allowed me to quickly assemble a strong team that would have taken me longer in the past. In general, powerful teams are not as expensive as they used to be. The only question is how to proceed now.

FIFA 22 Mbappé
The ultimate cards are still difficult to achieve

The gap to the top is large: While you can definitely build great teams with little expense, there are still the “top meta players” that are hard to come by. Ronaldo and Mbappé cost over a million, with Neymar and Messi following close behind. In Serie A, Di Natale’s hero card would be a great target – but even he costs over a million. The really strong icons don’t come for cheap either.

Taking the “next step” in team building might be difficult if you don’t draw one of these cards thanks to Pack-Luck despite lousy chances. Because: While you can buy players cheap on the transfer market right now, it’s damn hard to earn coins via player sales. Logical, after all, more or less everything is cheap.

There are two ways to get ahead here:

  • Wait until the market drops even further
  • Or collect more rewards from Weekend Leagues and Division Rivals weeks.

But at least I have a better team to fall back on for last this year than before.

How are you doing in FIFA 22 right now? Do you already have a good team, do you have top players in your ranks? And what do you think about the current situation on the transfer market? Tell us in the comments!
