In fact, WowHead’s dataminers have found several entries in the “ManifestInterfaceData” database that are linked to the second WoW expansion Wrath of the Lich King.

This is especially exciting because we are slowly but surely approaching the finale of WoW (buy now ): Burning Crusade Classic is approaching. In other words, if Blizzard is planning a Classic version of WotLK (which we strongly expect), the Classic team should make an announcement in the coming weeks or months and make the content available for testing on a PTR.
A look back at the most popular WoW expansion
With twelve million subscribers at peak time, Wrath of the Lich King was clearly the most successful WoW expansion of all time (and certainly, in general, the most successful MMO content ever released). But was WotLK also the best WoW expansion? If we look at our Poll from February 2021 When you were asked to vote for the best WoW era, the Northrend adventure at least received the most votes by far. 3,423 of 7,309 participants voted for WotLK. Burning Crusade came in second with 1,628 votes.
Why WotLK was a special expansion, we had told you for example in our article 13 nostalgic memories of Wrath of the Lich King rehashed. One reason, for sure: the Lich King. From his first attack on the Horde and Alliance capitals to the gripping finale in Icecrown Citadel, Arthas as a villain shaped the entire expansion like no other (or even no one?!) head villain has done later.
In terms of staging, Blizzard went one better compared to TBC. For example, with the epically staged in-game sequence at the Wrath Gate. Or with the partly blatant change of the areas through our actions, thanks to phasing. In addition, the fantastic music pieces that caress our auditory canal in the Northrend zones.
