The annual Dota 2 main tournament will be held in Singapore this time. This was announced by the organizers in a short tweet. The International has already appeared in the United States, Germany, Canada, China and Romania. This year it will take place in Southeast Asia.
Valve also announced that the tournament will take place in October 2022. The exact date will be announced by the organizers later. This esports tournament is known for its generous rewards. The players who won last year received a prize money of $40 million. The amount of the prize is collected through in-game purchases from members of the Dota 2 community and only grows over the years.
It is worth remembering that the 2020 tournament in Sweden was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was to be held in Stockholm in 2021, but due to problems with the Swedish government, The International was moved to Romania. However, live spectators were not present during the tournament due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is currently unknown if the organizers will take measures against epidemics during this year’s tournament.
However, since there is still some time left until October, Dota 2 fans have the opportunity to enjoy other tournaments. The schedule of upcoming Dota 2 tournaments with prize pools can be found at https://getesports.net/de/dota-2-tournaments/. This service also monitors all the results of teams and players in this discipline. GetEsports will also follow the next The International. ESL One Stockholm 2022 Major ended just a few days ago. Teams competed from May 12 to 22 for $500,000 in prize money. And on May 23, Dota 2 Champions League – Season 11 kicked off, and although the prize pool is only $50,000, it’s a good opportunity for teams to show off their gaming skills. Many people will be skeptical about the list of teams, but every team that is successful today also started with something. And maybe among these teams a new star will emerge.
Team Ranking Dota 2. DPC 2022
The official ranking system of the professional scene of Dota 2 is Dota Pro Circuit. It was first introduced in 2021, but underwent major changes before the 2021/2022 – Season . In the current version of DPC, there are three – Season s of competitive leagues per year in six regions:
- Europe
- China
- CIS
- North and South America
- Southeast Asia
After the first – Season , the strongest teams received entry slots to the regional finals, where scoring points were shared. Valve planned international major tournaments after the second and third – Season s where teams could earn DPS points. 12 teams with the most points will be invited to the main stage of World Cup The International 2022.
Regional leagues are divided into divisions. Players in the First Division compete for 690 rating points and 205,000 US dollars. In the second leagues – 75,000 US dollars each. In the off– Season , the top two teams in the second leagues get slots in the first leagues, from where the two weakest participants fly out.
Teams cannot make substitutions until the transfer window opens after the regional leagues end. Any change in the team will result in a penalty equal to 15 percent of the DPC points already received. Such substitutes can only be esport players who are not registered for another team from the same division.
The top teams in the DPC that do not receive spots at The International 2022 at the end of the regional leagues can compete for quotas in last-chance tournaments. Other teams that participated in at least the third – Season of DPC 2021/2022 (in the first and second leagues) will receive spots in the regional qualifiers if no more than two players are replaced at the end of the – Season . There will be no open qualifiers for TI 2022.
The International 2022: Format
The International 2022 is the final tournament of the Dota Pro Circuit. This is the 11th annual tournament held in Asia. The same format as last year will be used to earn invitations to participate in the international tournament. A point system based on officially sponsored regional leagues and major tournaments will be used to determine the participating teams.
It was also announced that the second and third place teams in each region’s qualifying competitions will participate in the LAN event, where two additional qualifying spots will be determined. Therefore, this year 20 teams will compete for the main prize instead of 18.
How will the participating teams be determined?
- 12 teams will be determined via the Dota Pro Circuit.
- 6 teams per team from six regions are determined by regional qualifications.
- 2 teams are determined by wildcard.
20 teams will be divided equally into two brackets, with matches played in a round-robin format. 16 teams participate in the main events: 8 teams compete in the Upper Bracket, and eight in the Lower Bracket. The first Lower Bracket match is Best of One, and the Grand Final is Best of Five. All other matches are Best of Three.
