League of Legends has announced its newest champion: Bel’Veth, the Empress of the Void. She apparently wants to live up to this name. In addition to classic Void abilities with which she dashes through the area, she also has the ability to attack faster. Infinitely fast, if you let her.
Who is the champion?
Bel’Veth has already been previewed with a trailer. She comes from the Void and in the story of Runeterra, the world behind LoL, she devours entire cities to form her own world. In League of Legends, she is a fighter who is especially comfortable in the Jungle. She benefits from killing monsters and champions, and brings some particularly useful abilities to enable dangerous “ganks”:
- Death in Violet/Death in Lavender (passive) – Increases attack speed for killing monsters and champions. After using an ability, its attack speed increases for 2 attacks.
- Void Surge (Q) – Bel’Veth sprints in one of four directions, dealing damage to all targets she crosses. Each direction has separate cooldowns.
- This Side and Beyond/Death from Above (W) – Enemies in an area receive damage and are flung into the air. Hit enemies reduce the cooldown of Void Woge.
- Imperial Maelstrom/Royal Maelstrom (E) – Bel’Veth channels a storm that hits enemies with the least life around her. She gains damage reduction and life steal in the process.
- Ultimate: Endless Banquet (R) – Every other attack against the same target deals absolute damage. Killing champions and epic monsters grants Void Coral. Bel’Veth can consume the coral to activate her True Form. This grants increased life, speed, attack speed and range.
Where does the attack speed come from? Bel’Veth’s passive ability can, in theory, stack infinitely. This means that given enough time, she will also eventually have infinite attack speed. The entire character builds up around the speed of her attacks. This roughly decreases the cooldown of Q and increases the frequency of blows in her E. Accordingly, it makes sense that her Passive contributes to this kit.
Sounds OP – But is it?
Bel’Veth does not gain attack speed by leveling up, and her attacks and hit effects do less damage. This means that she is more or less reliant on her passives. However, there are still factors at play here that we don’t know for sure yet. For instance, we don’t yet know how exactly the skill stacks and how much attack speed she’ll actually get per stack in the end, or if the value will just slowly increase at some point. Either way, you can expect Bel’Veth to get stronger and stronger over the course of a turn, and you shouldn’t take too much time. However, it should be nearly impossible for even good players to ever get her to “infinite attack speed”.
Then again, Bel’Veth is apparently supposed to be a big threat, as their story trailer also shows: LoL: Creepy trailer presents new champion Bel’Veth – “I devour your world”. How hard Bel’Veth will ultimately be to play and how strong she will really be will be revealed when she finally appears. She is scheduled to come along with patch 12.11 on June 8 or 9, 2022. If you want to play the new Junglen, it’s worth preparing for the role now. Because Junglen is the most unpopular role for solo players, even according to the pros, quasi the Zonk in LoL.
Nevertheless, the position remains enormously important, because as a Jungler you can decide about victory and defeat. If you help your lanes or can carry the team yourself, you are sure to win. If your opponent is stronger or you can’t balance your colleagues, you will lose. A tip will help you: LoL: Hardly any guide will tell you this tip, but it will make you a better jungler.
