What exactly is Schreier saying? According to Schreier, he has learned from internal circles that Activision Blizzard will refrain from a new part of the shooter series next year.

Since 2005, a new Call of Duty has been released every fall for 17 years. For 2022, a new part is already in the starting blocks.

Since the first part of Call of Duty in 2003, a total of more than 400 million game versions of the series are said to have been sold.

Why was this decision made? The newest part of the series – Call of Duty: Vanguard – has underperformed Acitivision’s expectations. As a result, some people in charge are said to have come to the conclusion that new parts are being released too quickly.

Warzone, the Free2Play game for Call of Duty, is also said to have pulled players away from the premium versions. The studio that was actually responsible for developing a new title is said to be helping out with Warzone instead.

Schreier stresses in his report that the abandonment of a new Call of Duty is not related to the purchase of Microsoft. The company had recently bought Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion.

However, there could be a change of plans if the purchase is actually completed. That should be the case around the summer of 2023.

When is the next part coming? According to Schreier, there will be a new part in 2024.

Warzone is successful, probably gets a part 2 in 2022

When is CoD: Warzone 2 coming? The fact that Warzone is to get a successor has now been confirmed. With this new game, persistent problems that cannot be improved technically are to be circumvented. Warzone 2 is thus supposed to be a reboot of the game on new and better hardware.

Currently, it is not clear whether Warzone 2 will be released with Modern Warfare 2 as early as 2022, or only a few months later. This is what happened with Warzone, which was released in March 2020 – several months after the release of Modern Warfare (2019).

The latest information from Jason Schreier suggests that Warzone 2 will still be released in 2022, close in time to Modern Warfare 2. However, there is still no exact date for both games.
