What’s the problem?

Many console players of CoD Warzone are not fully satisfied with the latest update. This is because the FOV slider, which some have wanted for a long time, has not come into the game even with the latest Pacific update.

This causes disappointment and even leaves some frustrated. Some would have even preferred this feature over the new Caldera map that makes up the main part of the Pacific update.

What is a FoV slider?

It allows you to adjust your field of view. When you turn up the FoV slider, you see more of the game. The visible section of the screen is larger and you can, for example, see enemies at the edge of the screen that you would otherwise not see.

For MeinMMO author and Warzone veteran Maik Schneider, the FoV slider is also one of the features that curbs his hype for the Pacific update:

FoV slider is “everything we wanted” for some console gamers

Why do so many want this feature? One of the main reasons is that PC players can modify their field of view. This gives them an advantage over console players, in addition to mouse&keyboard control.

With a larger field of view, the gameplay is also different and sometimes even faster. In addition, the console versions of CoD Vanguard and even the predecessor CoD Cold War have such a feature.

In the worst case, players will have to get used to it every time they switch from one of the titles to Warzone, or do without the feature there as well to avoid this.

Here’s how players are reacting to the missing feature:

In the subreddit for CoD Warzone it becomes clear how annoyed some are. While they are looking forward to the new Caldera map, an FoV slider has been on the wish list for some for a while and is almost more important.

• tzargilly agrees: “Yeah, before you had the option. […], it was fine. But from 120 FoV [in Vanguard] to Warzone, it’s not even fun because it just feels dated. I won’t play Warzone much unless they add it.” (via reddit)

Some are now calling for no more money to be invested in Warzone’s Battle Pass until the feature is added. They want to protest outright.

The communication from developer Raven is also being criticized on the subject, as the developer did not clearly state whether the feature was included or not until the actual release of the update.

Is there hope?

Some players suspect that the FoV slider might be delivered soon. The reason for this can be found in the patch notes for the Pacific Update. The FoV slider was apparently listed here for a short time, but then removed again (via reddit).

It is not clear if this was a simple error or if the feature was actually planned for launch and had to be removed again. Currently, there is also no official statement about the issue.

How is the update received otherwise?

Despite the annoyance over the missing FoV slider, the new map is getting a lot of positive feedback. Many players feel that Caldera reminds them of the competition, such as the Battle Royale game Fortnite or PUBG. You can also follow the launch in our live ticker.
