No sooner had the gates of Hyjal and the Black Temple opened their doors than Archimonde and Illidan lay defeated on the ground. We reveal which guilds were able to bag the World First Kills in the third phase of WoW: Burning Crusade Classic.
Last night, from the 27th to the 28th of January 2022, the gates opened for the first time from the Battle for Hyjal and the Black Temple from WoW: Burning Crusade Classic.. We knew already since December 2021 that “only” the the patch 2.4.3 versions of the raid instances are to be expected. Especially for the fights against Mother Sharaz and Archimonde this plays a role.
World First Kills in record time
It’s impossible to say whether the patch status of the bosses will ultimately play a role. As we know, the Progress Guilds are practicing the upcoming raid challenges ad nauseam on the PTR anyway. The only thing that is clear is that the first world-first kills for the TBC Classic era came darn quickly. Here’s a little recap:
- The EU guild Calamity from the server Mograine was able to defeat Archimonde first and thus win the battle for Hyjal.
- The EU guild Turbulence from the server Firemaw only quickly finished boss number 1 in Hyjal, for the Attunement, and then headed to the Black Temple. The reward: the first kill of Illidan.
- Meanwhile, on Warcraftlogs, the well-known Progress guild Progress is once again listed as the world’s number 1. The players of the Firemaw guild were the first to achieve “14 out of 14” status, clearing Hyjal and the Black Temple.
- After Progress, 457 more guilds were then able to master the entire raid content of Phase 3. Most communities (890) are currently stuck at 5 of 14.
- The fastest run in Black Temple took 1 hour and 28 minutes. In the Battle for Hyal, the time record is currently 46 minutes and 17 seconds.
What was it like back in Burning Crusade?
In the end, let’s take a look at what it was like back in 2007. Patch 2.1 was released on May 22, but it took until May 25 for the first boss, Furor Winterfrost, to go down (Nihilum had done it). After that, the knot was broken. Nihilum focused on the Black Temple and took down the first five bosses on May 26, 2007. Meanwhile, in Hyjal, the Forte and Curse guilds were able to kill Anetheron, Kaz’rogal, and Azgalor from May 26-29.
