After weeks of progression and a total of 734 attempts, a Beastlord hunter in WoW: Shadowlands managed to defeat the final boss of Castle Nathria before the end of – Season 3. This was the most difficult solo kill since the mythical Kil’jaeden in the Tomb of Sargeras.
Some WoW players have fun wandering through the dungeons or knocking down raid bosses together with their friends. Others prefer to beat each other up in PvP or leisurely quest through the various storylines. A few players, on the other hand, seek the challenge of playing group content completely solo. This can be dungeons or raids.
Of course, defeating any old bosses from previous expansions is not very impressive. But when it’s the final boss of a raid in the current expansion, that’s something else. And that’s exactly what the Beast Domination hunter Durendil has managed to do. Even before the start of – Season 4, he was able to defeat Count Denathrius in Castle Nathria solo – after over 700 attempts!

By Durendil’s own account, he spent eight weeks on Denathrius and was only able to defeat him on his 734th attempt. This was the most difficult solo kill since Kil’jaeden in the Tomb of Sargeras – at least according to Durendil. And he should know, since he has defeated many bosses solo in the past. Among them, many bosses standing in front of Denathrius in Nathria Castle.
While phases 1 and 3 were apparently relatively easy, the sticking point was in the second phase. Getting the adds under control and still getting to the final phase quickly was tricky. For this, Durendil switched back and forth several times between area damage builds and setups for single target damage. However, most of the wipes were in phase 1, where the DpS requirements were very high and Durendil often failed. Interestingly, the final phase, which is by far the hardest phase for most raids, was the easiest for the solo player.
