Already today you can play as Sam Fisher in Rainbow Six: Siege.

On August 16, 2020, Ubisoft officially unveiled the upcoming Rainbow Six: Siege – Season called “Shadow Legacy”. As always, every player can already enjoy the new content before the release to try out the new content for free on the test server. We will explain to you how exactly this works.

When does it start? Shadow Legacy testing will start on August 17, 2020, but there’s no exact time yet. The release of the new – Season usually follows about three weeks later. However, this period can also be longer or shorter.

How to play on the PTR test server

• Platform: The test server is only available on the PC
• Prerequisite: You must have an active UPlay account with Rainbow Six Siege or a UPlay+ subscription. Console players will receive a key to unlock access to the test server on PC.
• Download: Download the game “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege – Test Server” in your UPlay client or Steam.
• Play: To play on the test server, simply launch the named version.

Keep in mind that you are downloading a complete second installation of the game. The download is correspondingly large. At the time of “Shadow Legacy” you will need about 82GB free disk space.

What’s different on the PTR?

The test server is where previously unreleased updates for Rainbow Six: Siege – as the name might suggest – are tested. This means that you can new – Season including the upcoming operators and maps shortly after its announcement. But also smaller balancing patches are available on the PTR for the time being.

The game operation on the PTR does not run regularly. There are some special features:

• Operator: On the PTR you can play all operators without having to unlock them first. This applies not only to the new additions, but also to the previously released ones.
• Progress: Your progress on the test server will not be transferred to the normal game.
• Special Rewards: On rare occasions, Ubisoft will give players who join the test server special cosmetic rewards such as weapon tags for your normal account.
• Not always available: You cannot always play on the test server. If Ubisoft has no need to test an update at the moment, you will not have access. In addition, the number of players on the PTR is limited.
• Changes will not necessarily be applied: In the end, a change on the PTR does not necessarily have to be carried over into the normal game.
