How the new multiplayer works on PS4 and Xbox

Away from the usual – Season updates, has recently released a very special customization that was included with patch 11.30: the splitscreen mode for and . Here’s how the new feature works.

at a glance

  • The splitscreen mode in Fortnite was added with the update 11.30.
  • The new splitscreen mode only works on consoles.
  • The mode is available on both PS4 and Xbox One.
  • Splitscreen can be used in duo or team mode.

Fortnite Splitscreen: How to activate the new multiplayer mode

A console and two controllers (and of course the right teammate) are required for the splitscreen. Players must follow these steps to use the splitscreen:

  1. Player 1 turns on the console as usual and logs into his account.
  2. Player 2 must now connect the second controller and press the home button. In the window that now appears, player 2 can either log in as a guest or use an already existing second account. It is important here that player 2 uses an account that is connected to a Fortnite account – otherwise there is no access to their own Epic account.
  3. Once both players are logged in, the game switches back to the console owner’s account. He now starts Fortnite and logs in.
  4. Player 2 must now also log in to the lobby. At the bottom of the lobby menu you can see which button has to be pressed. By holding down the button, a window similar to the classic login window opens. Player 2 can now also select himself there.
  5. Now the game can be started – if everything has worked, player 1 and player 2 appear at the top and bottom of the split screen.

Fortnite Ninja skin: Tyler Blevin becomes the player to get his own skin

A new skin inspired by pro player Tyler “Ninja” Blevin is now available in the item store. The set consists of a ninja outfit, the back accessory “Ninja Blades”, the emote “Ninja Style” and the pickaxe “Twin Katanas”.

In addition, the skin offers a very special feature that rewards good players: the skin includes a headband that gets longer with each kill in the game – after ten eliminations, the band even starts to glow. It’s a reference to the headband that streamer Ninja wears in his mixer streams once he has a successful match series. If he loses, he takes the band off again.

  • The cost of upgrading weapons has been lowered.
  • Pulled from the vault: flintlock pistol, shockwave grenade and pulse grenade.
  • In motion, the contrail “spectrum” changes color again.

The associated information was leaked on Twitter, for example by FireMonkey:

Fortnite chapter 2 – Season 1 is extended

In a short announcement, Epic Games has announced that the current – Season 1 of Fortnite Chapter 2 will be extended – it will therefore continue until February 2020. Last year, there was already an extension event around the December holidays with several rewards and challenges. This year, too, it will probably look similar:

“This year we have even more content for you to unwrap, like new game features, free rewards, and a live experience you won’t want to miss.”

Fortnite update 11.20: These are the German patch notes

On Wednesday, November 20, there was a patch to version 11.20. The update is mainly to integrate support for Microsoft DirectX 12 into the game. The developers say about it on the official website:

“The PC version of Fortnite currently requires a graphics card compatible with Microsoft DirectX 11. However, in V.11.20 you will get the option to play the PC version with Microsoft DirectX 12!”

“DX12 will allow PC gamers with high-end graphics cards to achieve a higher, more stable frame rate where applicable. This is because DX12 helps CPU performance and allows rendering processes to be distributed across multiple cores.”

On epicgames.com, the developers have also published the official patch notes. According to them, there are especially these important changes with V.11.20:

  • Daily challenges are back, with EP as a reward.
  • Bandage Bazooka: This item returns to the game. The bazooka is also needed for the Alter Ego Challenge.
  • Locker Update: Players can now search specifically for – Season items in the locker.
  • PC Graphics Improved: On PC, Fortnite is now compatible with Microsoft DirectX 12, which should increase performance for FPS and prepare the game for the future.
  • In Creative Mode: New items like “Time Target” and the “Map Marker”.
  • In “Save the World”: “New Eerie Crypts” area, “Swamp Knight” character, “Swamp Monster Ken” character; crossover with Battle Breakers.

Fortnite Crossover: Star Wars and Stormtroopers.

Epic Games has already collaborated with well-known brands on previous events, most recently there were crossovers with the Avengers or John Wick. For the release of “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” on November 15, 2019, Fortnite players can now enjoy the costume of an Imperial Stormtrooper. The skin is available for all buyers of “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” exclusively in the Epic Games Store. Alternatively, the stormtrooper can also be purchased for 1,400 V-Bucks in the item store.

Another purely decorative gimmick so far, a Star Destroyer has appeared in the Fortnite sky. Whether the crossover will be expanded will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Fortnite Update 11.11: These changes are available as of today

The new Fortnite patch is available for download. In any case, various bug fixes and optimizations are planned for all game modes, both Battle Royale and Save the World.

Since the launch of Chapter 2, Epic Games has been keeping a low profile regarding current patch notes, and players have not received any official details about the earlier Update 11.10 either – users should thus have the opportunity to discover the new content themselves. However, Epic has already released some new events and items for “Save the World” on November 12:

Halloween at Fortnite: These skins and items will be available according to the leak

Halloween is just around the corner – and Fortnite is also celebrating the spooky holiday in a big way, for example in the form of matching skins. This includes the Ghoul Trooper, which is still one of the rarest skins today. Current leaks now suggest that he could return in new versions for Halloween. The last time it was available in the store was Halloween 2017. The leaks about the skin were found by the data miner HYPEX:

Fortnite update 11.01: Epic Games does not provide patch notes

With update 11.01, a new patch was recently applied. However, Epic Games still refrains from publishing official patch notes. Possibly for the reason that players should discover all the latest changes in the game themselves? This approach has been met with criticism from players, who have since collected the changes themselves and shared them via Reddit. Among other things, the Fortnite update 11.01. includes the following changes:

  • New Raptor skin
  • Pickaxe changes
  • optimized aiming aid
  • Adaptations of the XP system

“Fortnite” down: black hole in the “Fortnite” stream.

On 13.10.2019, “Fortnite – Season 10” ended in a spectacular way – around 8 pm, “The End” occurred, in which the entire map was swallowed by a black hole. But not only the game world, but also the user interface was removed in this way – whoever currently wants to start “Fortnite” will therefore only see said black hole.

Black hole in “Fortnite”: Number codes and mini-games to pass the time

Epic Games keeps its players on their toes despite being momentarily unplayable. Because mysterious numbers keep appearing above the black hole. Some “Fortnite” fans claim to have already cracked the code, which says the following:

Away from that, players even have the opportunity to get active despite the black hole. Entering the famous Konami code (up, up, down, down, B/O, A/X) starts a mini-game. Durr burgers are then shot down as a Pizza Pit piece.

“Fortnite 11” story and map: What is it about this time and what changes?

“Fortnite – Season 11” is expected to launch in mid-October 2019. So the obvious theme would be Halloween, which is best suited for matching skins and cosmetic customizations. In addition, there was a special Halloween event on the “Fortnite” servers last year, so players can look forward to a few spooky highlights this year as well. Apart from that, there are hardly any clues for the continuation of the “Fortnite” story, but there are quite a few fan theories.

It is assumed that the current – Season 10 takes place in the past – for this reason, many events happen in a similar way as they are already known from previous – Season s. For example, the meteorite that hangs frozen in the air shortly before impact, the returned floating island, or the that is built in Dusty Depot.

Therefore, in – Season 11, for example, previous locations could be brought back and appear in the game in a different form. According to a leak, the Visitor, who built a rocket in – Season 4 that eventually led to the big crack in the sky, will also return. It is therefore also possible that the Visitor will a rocket again – and perhaps even destroy the entire map. This would mean that “Fortnite” would be given a completely new map for the first time.
