Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Weaver: “The loom weaves and a new pattern appears.”
Skitskurr, the Weaver, is an agility hero from DotA and Dota 2. He is a ranged Dire unit that is very skilled at getting out of most situations quickly and silently. In the game, he can take on the role of a Carry and Escaper. Through The Swarm, Weaver dispatches twelve larvae in one direction, which deal damage to enemy units and reduce their armor the longer they hang on. However, the larvae can be eliminated by attacks or disappear after the duration of the effect expires. Shukuchi makes Weaver invisible and grants him maximum movement speed. If he moves past enemy units in this state, he deals a single damage to them. Weaver’s passive ability Geminate Attack allows him an additional attack effect that cannot be augmented with other attack effects has a small cooldown, so it does not work on every attack. Through his Ultimate Time Lapse, Weaver can bring himself back to the position he was in five seconds ago, regaining the amount of mana and health he had at that time. Time Lapse is thus an escape mechanism, but it cannot reset cooldowns. Time Lapse can be enhanced with Aghanim’s Scepter to cast the effect on allies.
Weaver- Hype
Weaver has no trouble evading enemies to position himself for another strike. Slipping in and out of sight, he avoids death by rewinding himself to an earlier position and health state. His arsenal of elusive skills ensures he is always a critical nuisance to his foes.
Weaver- Biography
“The fabric of creation needs uninterrupted care so that it does not fray; for when it unravels, whole worlds disappear. It is the job of the Weavers to keep the fabric tight and repair worn spots in the web of reality. They also defend it against things that gnaw at it or lay their eggs in frayed areas, for their hatched brood can easily eat up an entire universe if the Weavers slacken in their attention. Skitskurr was a master Weaver, responsible for a small patch of creation. But the work did not fill him up. It gnawed at him that the original work of creation had taken place in the past; the loom had done its work and moved on. He wanted to create instead of just maintain – to weave worlds according to his ideas. He began to make minor changes in his area of responsibility, but the thrill of creation proved addictive and his changes grew larger, distorting the pattern the loom had woven. The Guardians came with their scissors and Weaver’s world was cut away, removed from the cosmic tapestry they were restoring without him. Skitskurr was alone, separated from his kind, a condition that would have been torture for any other Weaver. But Skitskurr rejoiced inwardly, now that he was free. Free to create something for himself, to start over. The raw materials he needed to weave a new reality were all around him. All he had to do was unravel the seams of this old world.”
