Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Troll Warlord: “All hail the Lord of Trolls.”
Jah’rakal, the Troll Warlord, is an agility hero from DotA and Dota 2. He is a ranged combat unit of the Radiant. In the game, he can take on the role of a Carry. Troll Warlord’s abilities make him both a capable melee and ranged fighter, capable of dealing great damage. Berserker’s Rage lets him switch between ranged and melee combat and also changes the effect of Whirling Axes. In melee, Troll Warlord gets a bonus to his movement speed, basic attack time, health and armor. Additionally, he gets a chance to briefly stun his attack zeal and deal additional damage. Whirling Axes slows and damages surrounding enemies when Berserker’s Rage is inactive, and makes enemy units’ attacks miss and damage them when Berserker’s Rage is active. Troll Warlord’s passive ability Trevor makes his attack speed increase in multiple instances when he strikes the same target multiple times. However, this bonus is reset to zero when Troll Warlord attacks another target. Troll Warlord’s Ultimate ability temporarily increases the attack speed of him and all allied Heroes because it is global. Aghanim’s Scepter does not improve Troll Warlord’s Ultimate.
Troll Warlord- Hype
Instantly able to swap between ranged and melee attacks, Troll Warlord is a formidable force at any distance. Axes in hand, he can strike in a storm of spinning blades. He takes down enemies with increasingly swift attacks, and can speed his allies’ assaults wherever they are.
Troll Warlord- Biography
“It’s pretty easy to piss off a troll. In keeping with their prickly and quarrelsome nature, trolls thrive on contention and conflict. They have little regard for decorum or manners, as long as they can dispute something. Males grow up to adulthood in underground chambers of their maternal home. They revel and enjoy their existence without contributing anything. Many even remain well past their majority while being provided with the necessities of life by their mother. When young trolls are finally forced out of their underground chambers, they gather with their peers into vagabond groups of malcontents who loudly vent their weariness.
As much as trolls like to argue, it is hard to imagine a troll being cast out by his peers because of his intolerance. However, for Jah’rakal, a trading troll from the depths of Hoven, this was the case. So blinded was he, so bitter and aggressive, that even his peers could no longer bear him. After a particularly hateful outburst in which he claimed the lion’s share of the spoils of their last foray, his companions finally had enough. They turned on him, beat him up, and threw him out of their camp. Enraged by his banishment, he returned the next day in full battle gear. He slaughtered them one by one. Afterwards, he swore a blood oath to become a fighting machine from now on. Since then, he has roamed the world as a troll warlord, bitter and angry, supreme commander of a one-man army.”
