Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Timbersaw: “There are trees everywhere!”
Rizzrack, the Timbersaw, is a strength hero from DotA and Dota 2. Timbersaw is equipped with a mechanical combat suit whose saws he uses for close combat. He belongs to the Radiant and is a melee fighter. In the game, Timbersaw can take on the role of a Durabler, Nukers and Escapers. Most of his abilities have to do with trees, the proximity of which gives Rizzrack advantages in combat. Whirling Death adds damage to surrounding enemies while reducing the primary attribute of hit heroes by 15%. If a tree is destroyed while using the ability, Whirling Death deals pure damage. With Timber Chain, Rizzrack can pull himself to a tree and thus transport himself over relatively long distances. Enemy units in his path are damaged by Timber Chain and the affected tree is destroyed. Timbersaw’s passive ability Reactive Armor increases his health regeneration and armor when he is attacked. Each attack increases these bonuses by one more instance, adding up to 16 temporary instances at the highest level. Timbersaw’s Ultimate ability, Chakram, shoots a large saw blade at a target point, where it deals damage and reduces the movement speed of enemies as damage increases. Chakram can theoretically stay in one spot permanently, but it consumes mana every second and prevents direct attacks from Timbersaw until he recalls the saw blade with Return Chakram. You can get a second Chakram with Aghanim’s Scepter.
Timbersaw- Hype
Elusive and unpredictable, Timbersaw chops through the forest to face his foes. Unleashing an arsenal of saw blades to cut enemies to pieces, he rides his chain into nearby trees and batters foes along the way.
Timbersaw- Biography
“Rizzrack could still hear the screams in his head. He worked like mad, turning wrenches, twisting screws, carving, building and forging. He had no time for sleep; he just built. Months had passed since he locked himself in his uncle’s workshop, and his release was as good as there. He rubbed his back as his eyes closed, and he saw a blanket of flowers drift on the calm waves of Augury Bay before it exploded into a cloud of pollen, silencing all life as it assaulted his lungs. He woke up retching. For hours, the rhythmic sound of a grindstone echoed through the workshop as he sharpened a set of heavy blades. His head was filled with images of dangerous plants strangling neighbors and destroying homes. The flooding of Augury Bay did not compare to the violent horrors the water left behind the walls to grow. But his saw-tipped suit would make him strong and safe, he thought. It gave him a glimmer of hope before the full extent of his fear washed over his weak mind. Branches, tree bark, and blood. As the city sank, Rizzrack fled from wandering trees as he fought and killed. Trees destroyed the gate and poured into the city. They crushed and killed the last thing Augury Bay could muster as a defense. The few survivors were pursued. In suspicious silence, Rizzrack unwound the thick chain from the arm of his suit, his hands shaking as he checked each link in the chain and ran a finger over the claw at the end. The saw-tipped suit was now ready. With a trembling hand, he sparked the bladed machine to life. Fear set in for him, fear of what would await him and what he would have to face to calm his spirit. As the suit shuddered to life, he knew he had to face that fear, and he wouldn’t like it one bit.”
