Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Slardar: “From the deeps, I rise.”
Slardar, the Slithereen Guardian, is a strength hero from DotA and Dota 2. He is a melee Dire unit suitable for initiating teamfights or tracking individual opponents. In the game, Slardar can take on the role of a Carry, Durabler, Disabler, and Initiator. Sprint temporarily increases both Slardar’s movement speed and the damage he deals from direct attacks by a percentage value. The bonuses are based on the values of Slardar’s current movement speed and damage, respectively, and the Primary Attribute value. With Slithereen Crush, Slardar can stun and damage surrounding enemies, but also slows their movement and attack speed. His first ability is therefore excellent for popping out of nowhere and attacking enemies by surprise. Slardar’s passive ability Bash gives him a chance to deal extra damage and small stuns to enemies he attacks. The stun is counted as physical damage and also pierces magic immunity. Slardar’s Ultimate ability Amplify Damage massively reduces an enemy’s armor and grants True Sight on them. The Ultimate also ignores Magic Immunity, but cannot be improved by Aghanim’s Scepter.
Slardar- Hype
Ready to find and demolish his foes, Slardar quickly slithers into battle. After exposing an enemy’s position and shattering their defenses, he closes the distance to lock them in place with crushing blows and powerful bashes from his trident.
Slardar- Biography
“Slardar is a Slithereen, one of the Deep Ones, guardians of the great wealth of sunken cities and the ancient treasures buried there. In the lightless gulf of the great oceanic abysses, the Slithereen guardian carries his decoy light with him through the secret treasure chambers. Underwater thieves (sent to the depths by greedy dry-land wizards) are lured by his friendly glow and never return. He is fiercely loyal and his secretive nature hides great knowledge of the sea’s most secret places. Despite the pain that brightness causes him, he ascends to shallow waters for exploration purposes, to ensure that no one conspires against the depths and sometimes to relentlessly hunt down the few who manage to steal something from the sunken treasure trove. Having spent his entire life under the tremendous pressure of the sea, Slardar the Slithereen Guardian is a creature of great power.”
