Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Pudge: “Someone needed a Butcher?”
Pudge, the Butcher Pudge Icon.png (Butcher), is a melee strength hero from DotA and Dota 2. Pudge is one of the strongest and most efficient heroes in the game to kill enemy heroines and heroes, and therefore is suitable as a useful ganker. Otherwise, he can play the role of a disabler and durabler in the game. Its three active abilities can be perfectly combined in combat to kill enemies quickly. Meat Hook is useful for ambushing enemy heroes and heroines at the edge of lanes or in the Jungle and pulling them towards you, or for rescuing allies from tricky situations. While enemies receive pure damage, the ability does not harm allies. While Red damages Pudge himself, it also wounds and slows down any surrounding units of the enemy. Alternatively, Red can be used to suicide, similar to Bloodstone, so that enemies do not receive a large increase in experience points or gold from Pudge’s death. Pudge’s only passive ability is Flesh Heap. It allows Pudge to gain permanent resistance to magic as well as additional strength points when enemy heroes within his radius are killed. In doing so, Pudge also gets credit for kills that happened before he learned the ability. His Ultimate Dismember has a channeling effect and immobilizes enemy units, which receive massive damage based on Pudge’s strength over a short period of time. Pudge heals himself from the Ultimate’s dealt damage. Aghanim’s Scepter improves the damage and cooldown of Meat Hook.
Pudge- Hype
Each carefully aimed throw of Pudge’s signature hook strikes fear into his foes. Pulling his enemies near to carve them with his cleavers, he gains additional health and damage with every kill, and soon becomes an unstoppable killer.
Pudge- Biography
“Far to the south of Quoidge, on the battlefields of endless bloodbaths, a corpulent figure crept through the night in restless toil – dismembering and cutting up the corpses, piling the body parts and entrails of the fallen into mountains, that the battle might begin anew at sunrise. In these accursed realms nothing can decay, nothing decay; no body will ever return to the earth from which it emerged, however deep the grave. Tormented by the vultures whose meal he slices into beak-sized pieces, Pudge the Butcher has perfected the use of his blades, which grow sharper with each cut. Snip, snip, splat. The meat falls from the bones; tendons and ligaments he unravels like wet paper. Butchery has always suited him, but over the years Pudge has developed a taste for the byproduct of his art. It started slowly, a hunk of muscle meat here, a slurp of fresh blood there…. by now he doesn’t hesitate to sink his teeth into even the toughest hulk, like a dog chewing on a rag. Even those who can look the Grim Reaper in the eye still fear the Butcher.”
