Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Monkey King: “A new journey is about to begin.”
Sun Wukong, the Monkey King Monkey King Icon.png (King of the Apes), is a melee agility hero from Dota 2. He is the game’s first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2 and not playable in classic DotA. His appearance was teased during The International 2016 for the fall of the same year,[1] but was later postponed to December 12, 2016,[2] and occurred with the New Journey Update. In the game, he can take on the role of a Carry, Escaper, Disabler, and Initiator. His first ability, Boundless Strike, stuns enemy units along the area of effect and adds damage boosted by Critical Damage and True Strike based on his current damage. Tree Dance allows the Monkey King to jump onto nearby trees and move between them. Should the tree he is on be cut down, Monkey King will be temporarily stunned. Additionally, Tree Dance enables the Primal Spring ability, by which he jumps down, dealing damage to enemies and temporarily slowing them down. His passive ability Jingu Mastery allows Sun Wukong to hit four more times with bonus damage and life steal after attacking the same hero four times. Mischief lets Monkey King take on the appearance of an item like a Healing Salve, a tree, or even a rune (depending on where he is). With his Ultimate Wukong’s Command, he can create a circular area around himself with unattackable copies of himself that attack enemy heroes and have the same attack as the Monkey King. In addition, he temporarily receives an armor bonus. The Ultimate is canceled if Monkey King steps out of the circle prematurely.
Monkey King- Hype
Always looking for a good fight, the Monkey King climbs along in the treetops, sometimes leaping from his leafy cover at unsuspecting opponents. The nimble rogue commands an army of monkey soldiers that overpowers all of his enemies, thwarting any escape attempt with a swipe of his legendary staff.
Monkey King- Biography
“For 500 years the mountain pressed down on him, his stone prison conjured up by the old gods to stop his childish rebellion, from which only his head protruded. Moss was already growing along the edges of his exposed face, tufts of grass were sprouting from his ears, and wildflowers were sprouting from the ground next to his cheeks, beautifully framing his view. Most thought he had died long ago; torturously punished by the gods for waging war against the heavens until only legends told of him. But, as the story goes, the Monkey King cannot die.”
