Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Gyrocopter: “So much for my retirement!”
Aurel Vlaicu, the Gyrocopter Gyrocopter Ikon.png (Gyrocopter), is an agility hero from DotA and Dota 2. Equipped with numerous missiles, the fighter pilot is a long-range unit of the Radiant. In the game, he can take on the role of a Disabler, Initiator and Nucleator. Rocket Barrage lets Gyrocopter shoot missile salvos at nearby enemies for over three seconds, and Flak Cannon also lets Gyrocopter fire multiple attacks at surrounding enemies, over a set period or number of attacks. Horning Missile lets Gyrocopter chase a missile at an enemy hero or heroine, stunning them on impact but also destroying them in flight. The damage and stun time increase with the distance the missile travels. The further the missile flies, the more speed it gains. Call Down, Gyrocopters Ultimate, fires two missiles at a target area. While the first missile does great damage and slows down a bit, the second slows down more and does less damage. Aghanim’s Scepter adds a second cannon to the aircraft, which fires at units every now and then.
Gyrocopter- Hype
In combat, Gyrocopter uses its entire arsenal of weapons. He shoots at close enemies with his on-board cannon or a barrage of missiles. Should he reach his full strength, he will destroy any enemy without much effort.
Gyrocopter- Biography
“After a lifetime of wars, upheavals, rebellions and revolutions, the medal-studded Aurelius had seen enough. In addition to some trinkets and his sizable pension, the former engineer retired with something far more interesting: a long-forgotten and incomplete blueprint for a gyrocopter, the world’s first manned non-magical flying machine. Secluded in the tropical darkness of the Ash Archipelago with little more than money and time, he began to build the flying machine. As the years dragged on and the remains of failed prototypes piled up, he began to wonder if mechanical flight was even possible. A decade and a day into his retirement, on a sunny afternoon with a southerly wind, Aurelius attempted his run-up, brimming with exasperation and expecting another failure. With a final grunt, he pulled the fuse and covered his head as he waited for the inevitable explosion. To his great surprise, however, he began to take off and, after a few panicked adjustments, stabilized the flying machine. Within an hour, it was ducking and weaving through the breezes, surrounded by seagulls, and Aurelius felt for the first time the breathtaking wonder of flight. As dusk fell, Aurelius set a course back to his workshop. But at the same moment he turned his flying machine around, a cannonball ripped through his tail fin. After extricating himself from the wreckage of his aircraft, he swam to the nearest piece of land in sight, cursing the ship responsible for the cannonball as he picked up the debris. Days later, when Aurelius returned to his workshop, he began working on a gyrocopter, but this time it would be able to carry a much heavier and more dangerous load.”
