Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Broodmother: “Mother of all evil.”
Black Arachnia, the Broodmother, is an agility heroine from DotA and Dota 2. She is a melee unit of the Dire. In the game, she can take on the role of a pusher, a carry, and an escaper. With her Spin Web ability, Broodmother can leave up to eight webs on the map where she can hide, move freely and regenerate. These also give her an additional speed bonus, but lose their invisibility effect on Broodmother through True Sight. Alongside this, she can paralyze enemies with her bite using her passive ability Incapacitating Bite and inject her offspring into an enemy unit with Spawn Spiderlings, though these will only hatch if it dies under the influence of the ability. While the Spiderlings have a limited life span, they do have two passive abilities: Poison Sting slows and damages enemy units over a period of time, and Spawn Spiderite adds debuff effects to their attacks. Units that die during this debuff spawn Spiderites upon their death, which are a weaker version of Spiderlings. Broodmother’s Ultimate Insatiable Hunger is best used in combination with Spin Web, as it allows her to lunge at a victim from cover and gain additional damage and a high life steal rate.
Broodmother- Hype
Lurking invisibly in her webs, the Broodmother draws an army of small spiders to support her team as they make their way towards the enemy base. Should prey stray near her, she injects a paralyzing venom before satiating her insatiable hunger along with her children.
Broodmother- Biography
“For centuries, the Broodmother Black Arachnia lurked in the dark lava tubes beneath the smoldering caldera of Mount Pyrotheos, where she nurtured millions of juvenile spiders in safety before sending them out to prey on the wider surface world. In a later age, the Vizier of Avarice, Ptholopthales, built his magnetite ciggurat on the slope of the extinct volcano, knowing that any raider who coveted its magnetic wealth would have to survive the spider-infested passages. After millennia of maternal peace, Black Arachnia felt beset by a steady influx of thieves, daring knights and noble younglings. Certainly they were all delicious, but they began to create an insufficiently nurturing environment for their innocent brood. Tiring of the intrusions, she paid a visit to Ptholopthales, and when he proved unwilling to negotiate a compromise, she wrapped the vizier in silk and preserved him to serve as the centerpiece of a special birthday feast. Unfortunately, the absence of the master of the magnetic ziggurat encouraged a new generation of invaders. When one of her newborns was trampled by a bumbling adventurer, her silken thread of patience snapped. Broodmother made her way to the surface and declared her intention to purge the world of every single possible intruder, down to the last hero if necessary, until she could ensure that her nursery was once again a safe and conducive environment for her beloved spider brood.”
