Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Axe: “The Axe-man comes!”
Mogul Khan aka Axe is a strength hero from DotA and Dota 2. The Berserker Axe is a strong melee unit belonging to the Dire. Axe’s abilities make him a viable one-man army, which is why he can deal a lot of damage solo. Axe has a higher than average health regeneration by default. In the game, he can take on the role of a Durabler, Initiator, Disabler, and Jungler. Berserker’s Call forces surrounding enemy units to attack Axe while he temporarily receives a large armor bonus. Battle Hunger can also force enemy units to fight, as the ability deals damage over time but can be ended instantly by killing a unit. In addition, any affected unit that is slowed by 10% itself increases Axe’s movement speed. Axe’s only passive ability, Counter Helix, sometimes makes him spin on his axis when attacked, causing him to perform a sweeping attack. Culling Balde, Axe’s ultimate, can be used on any unit, but can instantly kill heroes below a certain health threshold. If Axe succeeds in killing an enemy Hero with Culling Blade, he and surrounding allies gain a temporary movement bonus and Culling Balde’s cooldown is immediately reset. Aghanim’s Scepter reduces the cooldown, increases the bonus tempo from the Ultimate and the amount of health for the Threshold.
Axe- Hype
One enemy after another falls victim to Axe’s axe. He marches ahead of his team, forcing enemies near him to fight and countering their attacks with powerful sweeping blows. He puts an end to already weakened enemies with a final swing of his blade before advancing further in search of more challengers.
Axe- Biography
“Even as a simple foot soldier, Mogul Khan aspired to nothing more fervently than to one day become a general in the Red Mist Army. Battle after battle he bore witness to his murderous lust for battle. He rose swiftly through the ranks of the army, due in no small part to his incisive arguments to superiors. The campaign of a thousand pools lasted seven years, during the course of which he proved to be the most bloodthirsty of all fighters and achieved ever greater glory, while the number of his comrades-in-arms continued to dwindle. On the night of the final victory, Axe proclaimed himself the new Red Mist General, bestowing upon himself the supreme rank of ‘Axe’. Now, however, he lacked subordinates. Many had perished in the battles, but a not inconsiderable number had succumbed to the blade of his own axe. It needs no further explanation why now hardly any soldier wanted to serve under him. Axe doesn’t care one bit, as a one-man army he is strongest anyway.”
