Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Arc Warden: “Diruulth and Radinthul, your conflicts must be ended.”
Zet, the Arc Warden, is an agility hero from DotA and Dota 2. In the game he can take on the role of a Carry, Escaper and Nukers. Arc Warden is a ranged combat unit of Radiant. Its first ability, Flux, is especially useful against enemy heroes who encounter Arc Warden alone. It allows Arc Warden to slow down a target unit and damage it over time, as long as it does not hit allies, as this suspends the effect again. Magnetic Field allows Arc Warden to create a magnetic field that allows allied units and buildings to dodge physical damage and gain additional attack speed. Spark Wraith allows Zet to summon a Lightning Spirit that magically damages an enemy unit in a target area. Tempest Double, Arc Warden’s ultimate, temporarily creates a copy of Zet that has the same abilities, items, mana, and health. Arc Warden was released with the Balance of Power update.
Arc Warden- Hype
Zet, the Arc Warden, is a fragment of the same elemental force that makes up the Ancients themselves. It has vowed to bring the battle between Radiant and Dire to an end, either through reunification or annihilation. Attack individual enemies with streaming energy or warp space-time to place a protective field around your allies. Summon a Spark Wraith to patrol an area and imbue enemies with harmful magic. Then create a perfect likeness of Zet, including all the items to overwhelm your opponents.
Arc Warden- Biography
“Before the beginning of everything, there was a presence: an original spirit, infinite, awesome, and endowed with an unfathomable purpose. When the universe thundered into existence, this spirit was fragmented and scattered. Two of its larger fragments – later named Radiant and Dire – found themselves in vicious opposition and began to twist all of creation to serve their conflict.
When war and catastrophe threatened the nascent cosmos, the will of a third fragment came forward. This intellect, which called itself Zet, wanted to resolve the disharmony and return everything to perfect unity. Horrified by the contradictory nature of his kin, Zet gathered the sum of his powers. In a sudden flash, he overwhelmed his siblings and merged the warring aspects into a stellar sphere before hurling them into the darkness to orbit an unremarkable world. Harmony was restored, though only a fraction of Zet’s power remained. Zet fixed his gaze on the prison and decided to use his weakened strength to serve as a vigilant guardian until the end of time. For countless eons, that vigil stood firm.
Life flourished on the world below, oblivious to the dangers trapped within the softly glowing moon or Zet’s efforts to contain them. The eternal struggle of the prisoners echoed inside, the surface of the prison shook and cracked with time. Eventually, Zet’s exhausted strength proved insufficient to contain the crack, and finally the moon was shattered. The old inhabitants of the prison had fled, reigniting their conflict anew.
With the explosion of the prison, Zet was hurled into the farthest corners and transformed by the dissonant energies of its former prisoners. It no longer had a single form and thought, but was distributed among many – some smaller, some larger – all connected by a fleeting arc of consciousness. In an effort to suppress his own disunity, Zet raced toward the burgeoning conflict of his siblings, bending his fractured will toward a single conclusion: the aspects of the original mind must be made to reunite, or all must be destroyed lest the conflict spread further…”
