Corporal Tank Dempsey is an American Marine soldier and a playable character in Survival. The color for his points is white, except in Moon, where that is coincidental. Dempsey is dubbed in the original by voice actor Steve Blum.
Biography
Tank Dempsey: American hero. Give him a loaded gun, a pretty woman and something to shoot at and he’s happy. Provoke him and he’ll rip out your gut to wear as a bandana.
Dempsey was chosen for this mission after proving his true capabilities in the battle on Peleliu. While that seems to have been a decent merit, his squad was captured before the actual attack and he spent two weeks in a rat-infested bamboo cage, half-submerged in swamp water. Well, that didn’t stop the tank, though. After daring to break free from the cage, he also gnawed his way through the ranks of enemies, armed only with a hair clip and his merit cross, which he already has hidden in multiple body cavities.
So now you know that for Dempsey there is no “before the war” and no “after the war.” There exists only the legend of Tank Dempsey and how he wins the war for us.

History
Tank Dempsey was a Marine and part of the American Army in the Second World War. He and three other Marines were supposed to free the secret spy Peter McCain from the Wittenau mental hospital. However, Dempsey failed to do so and was captured by 935 Group.
Dr. Edward Richtofen replaced him as the third test subject for his experiments, as an unknown Mexican had previously died from the experiments. Dempsey was subjected to element 115 and thus his memory loss occurs. He forgot everything that happened before the experiments. Further experiments were carried out in the weapons factory The Giant.
So Tank, Richtofen and two other test subjects (Nikolai & Takeo) also became the victims of a much bigger experiment. Richtofen wanted to test his teleporter, which he worked on desperately for a long time. However, after the teleporter was overloaded by Element 115, they travel through time into the future and end up in an abandoned theater in Berlin, sometime in the 1960s. After that, the journey went to an abandoned Soviet spaceport, where a scientist named Gersh was hoping to be freed.
Again the group traveled, and this time to Siberia, where George A. Romero wanted to make a zombie movie with four well-known actors. Things get worse when real zombies show up and turn George into one of them. The actors find the four original characters trapped in a small room. Richtofen wants them to find the golden staff for him. When they manage to do so, Richtofen leaves them the miracle weapon DG-2 and the group makes off. They load into Shangri-La, which despite its peaceful name is filled with zombies because there are mines full of Element 115. Richtofen brought the group to this location to grab the focus stone. Along the way, the group helps a researcher and his assistant escape from a time loop. NZ Nikolai When Richtofen has everything needed for his plan, he teleports the group to Hangar 18 at Area 51, which has been overrun by the zombies. The group is able to quickly escape into the teleporter, which teleports them to a base on the moon.
Thanks to Richtofen’s previous tests, there are undead here as well. The group is able to open a mysterious machine and looks for the first time at Samantha Maxis, who was able to keep the body of a young girl because she was frozen. Richtofen fuses the focus stone and the golden staff and swaps bodies with Samantha to take control of the zombies.
Through the computers in the station, the group is contacted by Maxis and is told that there is a way to minimize the damage Richtofen will cause. The group is able to watch as three missiles hurtle toward Earth, severing the connection between the Earthly world and the universe where Richtofen is located. Luck is on Richtofen’s side, however, and the rockets destroy the world. This allows the zombies to wipe out the survivors of the impact and Edward has even more power.
Nikolai, Dempsey, and Takeo, meanwhile, are antagonizing on the moon.
In Origins, an alternate parallel universe, the four meet again. However, Richtofen has not gone insane and the characters are all still very young. Dempsey has also not yet been subjected to the Element, which is why she still has clear memories. Thanks to Samantha, they can eventually travel to another parallel universe.
Two years later in The Giant (an alternate version in an alternate universe), the three characters (Nikolai, Dempsey, Takeo) encounter an ancient version of Richtofen. The latter has managed to teleport the young version of Richtofen from origins to him. The young Richtofen shoots the older one and the other three characters are confused, Dempsey included.
Dempsey himself mentions in The Giant that he can’t quite remember certain things, which is why we can assume that he loses his memory again through 115.
Info
• Dempsey and Joe Polonsky have the same player model.
• Dempsey’s player model for the first-person view is exactly like Mason’s from the Payday mission in Call of Duty: Black Ops.
• Dempsey hates Edward Richtofen, who hates him in return.
• Dempsey has no respect for Nikolai, however, he doesn’t seem to hate him either.
• Dempsey treats Takeo with a lot of respect, but Takeo does not reciprocate.
• Dempsey’s favorite weapon is the BAR. In Black Ops he also likes the M16, plus the heavy machine guns like the MG42 or the HK21.
• Sometimes, when punching a gun, Dempsey hums the ringtone of Juggernog.
• When Cinema of the Dead begins, Dempsey’s beard has grown a bit; moreover, when Ascension begins, he’s covered in blood and dirt. In Moon and Shangri-La, the blood and dirt is gone.
• Sometimes Dempsey makes sayings that break the so-called “fourth wall.” For example, “Hey Treyarch, can you give us a new target?”. Sometimes he also addresses the player directly, for example when he needs more ammo or points.
• In Call of Duty: World at War, the player who is Dempsey is also always the host. In Black Ops, that’s random. Also, you’re always Dempsey when you play Shi No Numa or The Giant in single player in World at War.Dempsey’s favorite drink is Juggernog and his least favorite is Quick Revive.
• Dempsey has a five-year-old daughter.
• Some of Misty’s sayings in Die Rise are similar to those Tank used to bring.
• Dempsey can’t stand the taste of fish at all, because he is always quite disgusted when he drinks Quick Revive, which tastes like fish.
